Having a nice relaxing day at Lindeman Island today with Hayley and Nicki from James Cook University.

We come to Boat Port on the Northwestern side of the island to carry out 6 monthly inspections and survey of the sea grass.

After the girls do the on water work, I drop them ashore for the rest of the survey which is done at low tide.

We are so pleased that the video which was taken by one of our guests last week has caught the attention of ABC and they asked if we could let them publish it as part of a whale feature.

We are delighted that we got permission from Lucy Seddon-Brown from Stories in Light Imagery and her 10 year old son Oliver (who actually took the video while Lucy was taking individual photos).

It's so good to see the effort made to remove plastic rubbish from our beaches by our amazing tour operators and their crews πŸ‘πŸ‘

Most of this rubbish is carried to our shores by wind and tide from a long way away, but regrettably, we also get some from local vessels.

Regardless of who you are or where you are from, please do your bit to keep our beautiful Whitsundays pristine.

If you are out on the water, please make sure that you secure your drink bottles, rubbish and personal items from being blown overboard.

Always so happy to assist in the removal of plastic from our shoreline 😊

Looks like a piece of artwork but in reality, it's part of a pile of plastic removed from the shore last week when we took some Reefcheck Australia volunteers to Haslewood Island.

They walked through to Waite Bay which is inaccessible by boat and came back with many sacks of accumulated trash equalling 39kgs of mostly plastic which included 1083 plastic bottle tops and caps!

Well done everyone and it was a pleasure to be involved.

Wild Dreams heading out for the 4th day in a row with a group of swimmers.

Each day they swim at 2 locations in front of various islands - usually 2 - 4km.

We have an in water trainer with them, a kayak with safety equipment alongside them and our vessel tags along to keep an eye on everything.

More photos to come soon.

It might not look much bagged up but this was a tremendous effort by the team of volunteers and staff of Reefcheck Australia when we went to Haselwood Island yesterday to do a beach clean at Waite Bay.

We came into Windy Bay and the crew walked through the short track to the southern side which is where so much of this plastic rubbish comes ashore.

It will now be sorted and recorded for collating with previous information from this and other sites, helping to find practical solutions to this worldwide problem.

Thanks to everyone for a most enjoyable and productive day, we are very proud to be involved in these activities which help with protecting our fragile environment.

The first whales of the season were spotted just a couple of days ago which is a great sign that we are in for an excellent whale watching season this year.

We are already starting to get inquiries for whale watching trips and will keep you updated once sightings become more regular, probably around early July.

We will be offering shared whale watching specific tours as well as private, small group outings which can also include a beach stop and some snorkelling experiences.
