Beautiful day today, humpback whales out behind Breaksea island, one of them is entirely missing it's dorsal fin, the second whale I've seen like this for the season.

After the average weather of the last few days it was nice to have a beautiful sunny day on the water. We saw at least 5 humpback whales and several pods of bottlenose dolphins. One of the humpbacks was very interested in the boat and people.

How awesome is this? I didn't even know the pygmy right (?) were hanging around our coast during summer! Who knows what else we haven't come across!

14th June 2022 After being landed by weather warnings for the previous 2 days, today we were bathed in sunshine. The day took us out past Bald Head to ‘the line’, where we encountered a few travelling pods of Humpbacks, keen to keep on the move. They teased us with their steamy blows and reveale...

11th June 2022 While we experience four seasons in a day on the surface, the water was energetic. It was a hard day for the skipper. Our land-based spotter informed us that there were blows out on ‘the line’, so that’s where we headed. Out in the Southern Ocean there were lots of blows … lot...

7th June 2022 As we cruised towards the Humpback Hwy, we spotted 2 Humpbacks enjoying the calmer waters of King George Sound. The relaxed whales teased us with a display of blows and rolling backs. While it was nice to spend some time with these beauties, we were in the mood for an adventure! We dec...

5th June 2022 The day saw us journey from King George Sound to Bald Head. The energetic waters seemed to excite the whales today. We were indulged by a pod of approx. 10 Humpback whales and their athletic displays. The water was chopped by lots of pectoral slapping and breaches. While they were so a...

3rd June 2022 Again, we cruised towards the Humpback Hwy. Between Bald Head and Breaksea Island is where we found the honey pot … whales galore! There were at least 20 Humpbacks organised into several pods. In the precious time we spent with them we were treated to a display of blows as the whales...

1st June 2022 What a fabulous day to kick off the 2022 season. Conditions were calm but there was excitement in the air. To start our first whale tour for the year, we headed for the Humpback Hwy or ‘the line’ as it is also known. Cruising out to Bald Head where we were treated to a pod of 6 Hum...

Wintry greetings to all our faithful friends and followers out there!
We have some good news and some not so good news today
- the good news: the whales are back!!! 🐋 🐋 🐋
Yay!!!
- the not so good news: our trusty Sail-A-Way is still in drydock, as we experienced some unexpected issues with freight of parts due to covid 🚛
- we are working very hard at getting her all good to go again, but at this stage it looks like we won't be going out till later this month ⛵
- we can't wait to join the gentle giants of the deep out there again this year, so stay tuned and we'll let you know when our booking lines are open again! 🐳 🐳 🐳

In the mean time enjoy a read about some bubble feeding humpbacks off the coast of NSW and Tassie!

https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/news/2021/06/watch-humpback-whales-spotted-bubble-net-feeding-for-first-time-in-australia/

This is only the second time a super group of humpbacks has been observed in the southern hemisphere and the first time bubble-net feeding has been seen in Australia.

Though our whale season doesn't officially start till late May / early June, it looks like the first giants of the deep are arriving a bit earlier this year! There have been sighting at Cheynes as well as in the Sound over the past couple of weeks! We can't wait for the season to start - are you planning a trip out with us to see these awesome gentle giants? We'd love to hear from you!
