If anyone is interested in attending this great activity, it’s being held at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Traralgon. Come along and learn how to start your family tree,how to search for records, how to record and save photos,stories and videos and attach to your tree, how to apply sources and much more. Create a Family Crest…and there will be kids activities to set them on the path to find out who they are!
Followed by a good old ‘sausage sizzle’.

The 2024/2025 Alberton Cemetery Walking Tours will kick off in September.
This season, the tours will be held on the 4th Saturday of the month from September to March. The final tour will fall on Easter Saturday, April 19th 2025.
The tours will also run earlier, with a start time of 4:30pm and concluding around 6pm. The perfect time to allow guest to pop down to Port Albert for dinner!

Today is our last walking tour for the season, AND….its our National Heritage Month Tour!
The weather is looking clear and fabulous…but bring a jacket and wear comfy walking shoes.
Eric,Chris and I love meeting our guests and sharing our local heritage stories with you.
Come along and meet some of our pioneers and learn about their struggles and their successes.
The tour commences at 4pm and finishes up around 5:30pm.
Cost is $10 per person over 16.

April 20th will be our last tour for this season. It will be our very special ‘National Heritage Month’ tour. We are honoured to be included in their program.
Start time- 4pm till approximately 5:30pm.
Cost is $10 per adult. Unfortunately there are no eftpos facilities available at the cemetery.

Alberton Cemetery Tour
Explore the history and landscape of the historic Alberton Cemetery. Visit the 1842 grave of the earliest recorded burial and hear how the site is thought to have been used as a burial ground much earlier, when access to the site was via the Albert River.
The walking tour is an opportunity to explore the history of the first and largest cemetery in Gippsland. Walk the full length of the 32 acre cemetery from the entrance to the Old Ground on the banks of the Albert River. Learn of the pioneers of the Port Albert and Alberton district and hear of their achievements and the hardships and tragedies they endured.

Happy Easter Everyone.
We certainly had a great group this evening for our Easter Walk. The Easter Bunny had left a trail of eggs for the younger one in the group and I’m pretty sure they were all found! What a crazy few days it has been….no power, no phone reception and no internet!
It’s been like the ‘olden days’ when the first pioneers arrived in Port Albert. How on earth did they cope?!

I will be keeping an eye on the weather today….
It’s looking good for the walking tour so far but with a possible thunderstorm on the radar I’m a bit concerned.
A bit of rain has never stopped us before…that’s why umbrellas were invented!

Our November Alberton Cemetery Walking Tour is ON this Saturday (25th) at 5:30pm.
It will be a leisurely stroll (my legs and feet are still having issues) through the 30.5 hectare grounds while I chat and share stories of some of our residents.
Come along and take in the atmosphere and peace of the oldest cemetery in Gippsland.

A huge ‘Thank You’ to the lovely Sue Jones, who organised her friends to take a stroll through our historic cemetery. It was an absolute pleasure to host for you on this glorious day….who would believe it was winter!
Todays guests were 8 delightful ladies from the area of Yarram and Jack River. Our tour normally takes 90 minutes but with so much to talk about and such engaging conversations it took twice as long!
Graves were found, connections made, and stories shared. It was fabulous!
Golly ladies, I hope you enjoyed your late lunch!

The 2023/24 tour schedule has been finalised, so here it is!
I am looking forward to taking visitors through our wonderful historical and unique cemetery and sharing the stories of a few of our residents.

The tour dates for the 2023/24 season are as follows-:
***September 30th- Cancelled
***October 28th- Cancelled
Due to my ongoing medical issues the 2 tours above are cancelled.
I love hosting the tours and it’s breaking my heart not to be able to do so.
Hopefully by November my medical team will have me walking again.
I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.

November 25th
December 16th (due to Christmas/New Year)
January 27th
February 17th
March 30th (Easter Saturday)
April 27th @ 4.30pm

All tours, except the December 16th 2023 tour and the April 27th 2024 tour, are held on the last Saturday of the month at 5:30pm. Please note the April 27th tour is held at the earlier time of 4:30pm due to diminished daylight.

Todays Easter Saturday tour will commence at 4:30pm and conclude around 6pm.
There will be interesting stories from our host about the history and settlement of our beautiful area, and an egg hunt for any children attending.
Hopefully the weather will kind so you can enjoy a wander through our unique cemetery.
You will also receive a fabulous’Middle of Everywhere’ gift bag.
Please bring cash for entry fee of 10 per person 16+,as we do not have card facilities out at the cemetery.
