It’s going to be a hot tomorrow in our beautiful patch,but by 4:30 it should be tolerable.
Don’t worry,I’ll have the bug spray and the water ready for you so you are prepared for our meander around the oldest cemetery in Gippsland and the only one to back on to a river.
There are stories to share and a relaxing walk to be had, as we wander up to the old section to our earliest know burial.

Shout out to Chris Smith, my co host, who supports me and our tours. Chris shared the stories of E.T. Newton and the Martin Brothers with our guests today.
He also shared the sad tale of Robert McClure and his fellow travellers when they had run out of food and were so starved they had no choice but to eat their dog!
I covered Pippa’s (our very well behaved 4 legged guest) ears so she wouldn’t hear that part!

There’s a lot happening this weekend around Yarram and Port Albert.
If you are having your morning coffee contemplating what to do today, why not check out the Chalk Art in Yarram, The Mural Trail this morning and then come along on our Cemetery Tour and learn about our local pioneers and hear their stories this afternoon. It’s looking like fine weather for outdoor activities.
Book by calling Sandi on 0403819183 or meet at the front gate at 4:30pm. The tour concludes at 6pm (ish) in time for dinner at Port Albert. (Fish and Chips or Italian are on the menu!)

We had a very chilled stroll through the cemetery today as it was the only chance they would have while checking out our corner of the world. They were suitably impressed with the Middle of Everywhere jellybeans!

We love our cemetery and love to share the stories of our residents. We end our tour at the grave of Robert McClure, our first recorded burial. It is believed that burials occurred prior to Robert, but there are no official records of those.

I am so lucky to do what I love! Taking lovely people on our tours.
Today we had 2 groups. The Warragul PROBUS Club and The Bendigo Classic Car Club. Thank you for spending your time with us. Spring in the cemetery is so perfect!

It’s September!
You all know what that means!
The Alberton Cemetery Walking Tours season begins this month!
I’m excited…..I love hosting for the lovely guest who come along to learn about our wonderful residents, and pick up some local history while we enjoy a relaxing 90 minutes wandering through the oldest cemetery in Gippsland.
If you are a local who’s never explored the Alberton Cemetery or are planning a trip to our gorgeous area, why not pop us on your ‘to do’ list….
You won’t be sorry.

The tour dates for the 2024/25 season are as follows-:
September 28th
October 26th
November 23rd
December 28th
January 25th
February 22nd
March 22nd
April- 19th (Easter Saturday)

All tours are held on the 4th Saturday of the month at 4:30pm, except for Easter Saturday.

$10 per person 16+(Kids and dogs are free)
Tours are run in conjunction with the Port Albert Progress Association, Wellington Shire Council and the Alberton Cemetery Trust.

If anyone is interested in attending this great activity, it’s being held at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Traralgon. Come along and learn how to start your family tree,how to search for records, how to record and save photos,stories and videos and attach to your tree, how to apply sources and much more. Create a Family Crest…and there will be kids activities to set them on the path to find out who they are!
Followed by a good old ‘sausage sizzle’.

The 2024/2025 Alberton Cemetery Walking Tours will kick off in September.
This season, the tours will be held on the 4th Saturday of the month from September to March. The final tour will fall on Easter Saturday, April 19th 2025.
The tours will also run earlier, with a start time of 4:30pm and concluding around 6pm. The perfect time to allow guests to pop down to Port Albert for dinner!
