A huge thank you to the Northern Territory Government and the Community Benefit Fund for their assistance in purchasing new equipment for the camp including a Ride on Mower, Chainsaw and Multi Function Centre (Printer, Scanner etc). This will assist in the ongoing maintenance at the camp and make for a better experience for guests.

While construction went on at the new bunkhouse, there are always challenges.

Itโ€™s our birthday!

On the 11th March 1978 Hamilton Downs Youth Camp was officially open as a youth camp.

The Apex Club of Central Australia took custodian of the rundown homestead in 1972 and spent many years restoring the buildings, with the aim of it becoming a youth camp, and in 1980 the buildings were heritage listed.

Since then, thousands of people have spent time in this beautiful region โ€“ staying in the historic buildings, learning about the history and enjoying the good old outback.
The condition of these precious buildings and infrastructure has continued to be maintained, as well as building additional bunkhouses so more people can enjoy this spectacular country.

If itโ€™s been a while since youโ€™ve visited โ€“ make sure you come out on Sunday 21st of April for our Open Day!
