You're invited to a special ceremony to celebrate the upgrade of the Laverton Swim & Fitness Centre this Friday at 11am, before it opens by the end of the month.

Thanks to the support of the BlueFit Group, this $2.5 million transformation marks a new chapter for this much-loved community facility. The works were essential for the long-term safety and longevity of the building.

📸🐧 In celebration of Penguin Awareness Day today, we had a photoshoot with Little Penguin from Altona Library's EnviroCentre.

While penguin sightings are rare along the shores of Hobsons Bay, we’re occasionally visited by the charming little penguins from the nearby colony in St Kilda. These adorable creatures hold the title of being the smallest penguin species in the world!

🌟 We’re fortunate to have a taxidermied little penguin on display at the EnviroCentre. It’s part of a fascinating collection of over 30 local native species, all available to view during library hours.

For a more interactive experience, visit our wildlife display at the Seabrook Community Centre this Thursday between 9:30am - 2:30pm 🦎

Flying above the Altona Skate Park, the new exhibition at Airtime showcases the talents of seven young people included in the 2024 Woods Street Youth Art Prize.

Works were selected by an expert judging panel including: Anna McDermott (The Substation), Aamar Ahmed (Footscray Community Arts), Karen Ingram (Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre), and independent artist Karima Baadilla.

🥳🎂The Williamstown Botanic Gardens is 165 years old this year!

Opened in January 1860, the gardens were designed by prominent artist and landscape designer, Edward La Trobe Bateman and laid out by William Bull, the first surveyor to the Williamstown Council. Today the gardens are listed on the Heritage Register.

🌼🦆🍄🍴 It has been home to strange fungi, exotic lillies, weirdly shaped trees, beautiful creatures, shrubs from Africa, delightful scents, art installations, family picnics and of course... you!

🎉 We'll be celebrating throughout the year with tours, talks, a giant plant sale, a garden party, art workshops, plant propagation days and many other activities.

Free fruit and water will be available to help beat the heat.

Don't get stuck this New Year's Eve! 😬

Roads will be closed in Williamstown from 5.30pm on December 31 until 1.30am January 1 at:

🚧 The Strand from North Road to Ferguson Street.
🚧 Nelson Place, between Ferguson Street and Thompson Street, including Syme Street.

Vehicles already parked in this area can EXIT ONLY until 7pm, with no vehicle movement permitted in that area from 7pm until 1.30am.

These areas will be alcohol-free zones. Open fires and fireworks are strictly prohibited.
