Squadron leader John Francis Jackson died on this day in 1942 defending the skies above Port Moresby.

This defense is given credit for the delay of the Japanese naval invasion of Port Moresby. This allowed the Americans to engage and defeat the Japanese in the battle of the Coral Sea.

These allied successes eventually led to the Japanese advance on Port Moresby with the subsequent battles of the Milne Bay and one you may have heard of the Kokoda Trail campaign.

The team arrived into Surgeons Rock with the weather in their favour. All paid respects to those who passed at this sacred spot, the story of Stan and Butch never leaves a dry eye.

Tomorrow all will be attending Dawn Service at Isurava Battle Site. This is sure to be their most special ANZAC day to date.

Photos will come of the group, reception hasn't been great.
