Even though this clutch was correctly adjusted, the operator said he still couldn't get it into gear. A spinning clutch brake is no good to anyone. Moral of the story, listen to the driver. They're always right????
Yeh nah, that won't pass inspection (and it didn't even though someone had done a pre inspection check).
This leakdown test shows a failed cylinder. Air could be heard escaping into the sump. Most likely failed rings. Blowby was excessive. Misses upon a cold start-up too.
I did a leakdown test on an engine the other day. This is a good cylinder.
Not the best brake shoe mount condition
We later found that the internal cores were blocked. Not much of a temperature drop was recorded across the radiator.
This is the colour the liquid turns when exposed to combustion gases (Diesel).
A test for exhaust gases in the cooling system returning a negative result.
5th wheel mounting bush replacement. No hammers (or sweat) necessary.
How often do you drain your air tanks? You should do it each time you do your walk around checks to avoid this. No problems with the compressor here, just humid operations.
Not the best brake shoe mount condition
More brake mount issues. The biggest issue here is loose return springs that can allow brake drag.
It's always a good idea to replace all brake mounting hardware when changing shoes
Here's that movement again but with a dial gauge. About 1.1 mm (yes 1.1 not 11). Next time an enforcement agent says she's stuffed, measure it. We put a dog bone under this one to take out all the slop. The 5th wheel mount holes are worn a bit.
How many mm of movement do you think this is and how much are you allowed?
