We've been approved by the Documentary Australia Foundation for DGR (deductible gift recipient) status. This means any contribution to the film budget is 100% tax deductible. We effectively have the same status as a charity for tax purposes. It's an initiative that is a couple of years old now and has already been a funding model that has supported some amazing films like Happy Sad Man (Genevieve Bailey, 2018). [ 111 more words ]

Big News! The documentary series I have been quietly developing with the support of cheese activist Will Studd, called Raw: The Global Fight to Save Real Cheese - which tells the story of the threat to some of the world's greatest cheeses and takes us inside the world of some of the world's greatest cheesemakers, in France, England, The UK and Australia, has just received DGR status through the Documentary Australia Foundation. That means contributions to help fund the film are 100% tax deductible in Australia. Please have a look at the info on the DAF website. Also on that page is a link to my blog about creating this project including the sizzle reel.

Please share this with anyone you think would be interested in supporting this project. Cheese lovers, people who are concerned about the loss of small-scale farming and artisanal production methods, etc. Thank you!

Hello Filmmaker Abroad Community.
I would like to thank you for your ongoing interest in our boutique travel/filmmaking/photography/adventure business.

I have to notify you that there are no further trips being offered in 2018.

Please read the following:
Unfortunately my wife is currently recovering from major surgery following the discovery of an aggressive cancer. Consequently I have postponed all international travel until the last quarter of 2018, at the earliest. I do apologize if this affects your own travel and career plans.

I would also like to apologize to those of you have have written seeking information about upcoming trips. I receive so many requests, and in this recent period, I have not had the headspace to write back to you all individually, as I have done in the past.

In the interim, allow me to offer you some advice. Get out there, and make things. If you have a passion for storytelling and film craft you should just start. Allow yourself to make mistakes - you'll learn a lot from making them. Hopefully next year when you contact me about developing your skills on a Filmmaker Abroad trip you'll be further down the road to realising your dream.

PLEASE NOTE: Filmmaker Abroad does not offer internships or attachments, so please do not ask.

I look forward to offering new and improved travel and filmmaking experiences in 2019 and beyond. So check back in for details later in the year.
