Contrary to recent media coverage, Council wishes to advise the community that Lake Bonney remains open and safe for swimming and recreational activities.

SA Water has provided Council with results of recent water testing which further enforces the health and safety of Lake Bonney. Council is working with our partner agencies to manage and respond to the algal bloom identified at North Lake adjacent to Nappers Bridge.

Council is committed to keeping the community informed as further information becomes available.

Additionally, Council is investigating opportunities to reopen select campsites around the lake.

The SASES reminds the public that Lake Bonney in the Berri-Barmera Council remains open and encourages people to enjoy recreating on the lake safely.

A boat ramp remains open to the lake, providing access for sailing, canoeing, jet skiing, boating and fishing.

We are continually being asked how our property is affected by the flooding. Attached is a photo taken yesterday from the patio showing the height of the lake compared to our property. This is as high as the water will get as the lake has now been blocked off from the Murray. You can safely book your lakecation with us and enjoy the water this summer in confidence.

Sunset Dreamz will be open throughout this flood event. Most lakefront properties will be safe however it is interesting to look at this site. You can understand why the caravan park needed to relocate their cabins to higher ground.

Unlike some other accommodation providers, Sunset Dreamz is still 100% open for bookings. Access to the unit is open, the lake is still safe for watersports, swimming and fishing. The Riverland is going to go through a significant challenge over the coming 2-3 months, but we are still open for business.
