This is . We are a little bit excited as we are travelling to Italy together in April. Michelle and her husband supply with Italian wines they import.
We will hit the ground running in Milan then off to in Verona then head to their wine producers in Tuscany.
Can't wait to share this next adventure.

A lovely evening spent in Bassano. This is my cousin Filippo’s wife Ester with her brother visiting from panama. Baby Matteotti is due any day I just hope he arrives before I leave on Friday.

Gorgeousness abounds at this beautiful property I visited today. The passion , care, love and detail that has gone into this property by the family is inspiring. From their organic wines and vegetable garden through to the 4 year restoration is not for the faint hearted.
Looking forward to sharing this unique hidden away property with guests in September 2024.

We were told 12 months ago by a mutual friend we needed to meet Lou & Val who spend the summer in Bassano from Australia. (photo at dinner last night). Sitting having breakfast yesterday morning and heard two men talking footy.
We started chatting and well you can guess what happened. We even ended up in a photo shoot for the cafe.
Dinner together that night and lunch on Thursday. These are the moments I love the most.
Shout out to & Roger who were with them. Lovely connections. Grazie Mille to you all!!

This is me for the many of you who have started following recently and I wanted to say a big hello!!!
As my 3 month sabbatical wraps up in a few weeks I wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you for following my journey.
The decision to take this trip was huge and nearly didn’t happen and would not have happened if I let my circumstances dictate my path rather than follow my heart ❤️
There’s been lots of twists and turns and I can’t wait to share them with you in September 2024.
I will be holding an info night/day around September. I’m thinking a Saturday afternoon aperitivo time might be better than an evening and more 🤩. Let me know your thoughts.
The next 3 weeks are busy and jam packed with a couple of getaways which I look forward to sharing.

I had the privilege of being shown through this incredible property yesterday. Built in the 1600’s it is still owned by the same family.
A major renovation was completed in 2019 and opened to the public then covid hit 😩.
My planned retreat here in September 2024 will see us have exclusive use of the property along with our own private chef, local wine tours, yoga, cooking classes along with time to reconnect.
This is truly going to be something very special in a very special location.

Domani (tomorrow) I am visiting a wonderful new venue (pictured) with retreat dates for September 2024 to be released shortly.
will have a slightly different twist to it moving forward aimed at those ( like myself) at a stage in life where more self care is needed.
I look forward to expanding on this over the coming months.

After a couple of weeks off from my ceramic classes todays class was epic for me. It was amazing to see pieces coming alive (even if aren’t that great I don’t care) and pure joy in that. I must say I’m very excited about the plate and will be glazing them next week.
Wonderful also to share this space with and chat intermittently. Todays class made feel so good. That is all!!

Ok so Saturdays road trip started off idyllic. Coffee and pastry just before I hit the border. I was really taking it all in having had wonderful week in France 🇫🇷 with friends
Fast forward a few hours and I was rear ended on the autostrada. I am ok apart from very shaken at the time (not fun on autostrada with traffic, unbelievable heat and general craziness) and some bruising and general body soreness.
I wasn’t going to post anything about it but sitting here the next day so many things going through my head. I was far from my life flashing before my eyes, however what did was that we all say we can be here one minute and not the next. We say that from usually a very logical head perspective but yesterday I felt it from a heart perspective. ❤️.

A wonderful evening staying in and cooking with and for friends. I love navigating a kitchen that’s stove sits on a 500 year old floor hence everything is on a lean and constant pot manoeuvring is required🤣.

Let’s face it there are plenty of food, wine & cultural tours out there focusing on “unique” experiences and you as the customer really are spoilt for choice. So why choose . I say why wouldn’t you.

With Italian blood running through my veins and over 30 years in the hospitality industry I know a thing or two about what truly connects us and the yearning for a sense of time and place.(Lord knows I’ve done plenty myself).

Annie’s Curated Culinary Tours: I am specialised in food and wine tours that take participants on a gastronomic journey through the region.(Veneto & Friuli Venezia Giulia) Focusing on authentic local cuisine, traditional cooking classes, wine tastings at boutique wineries, and visits to local food producers.
Many of these suppliers already work alongside to provide a taste of these regions in our beautiful village by the sea in Barwon Heads.

I must admit I haven’t felt the urge to do a post since the last one. This last week has been spent reflecting and sitting in a lot of discomfort. This trip for me isn’t just about good times in Italy but who I really am without the identity of mainly and what that looks and feels like.
Part of the process is also if I want to continue . Im sure there will be lots of twists and turns over the next 8 weeks and I will keep you all up dated (for those interested) through this process and journey.
I started pottery classes today and re starting Italian classes next week. They are small steps but necessary to ignite or as my pottery teacher explained it will open a door to other pursuits.
I would love to hear from anyone else who feels what I’m saying in their own experiences.

For those of you have started following recently I thought I would share how this journey came to be.
I grew up in an Italian-Anglo Saxon family which in the seventies and eighties was not cool (glad this has changed). One toe dipped in an Anglo Saxon world and school with minestrone soup or mortadella sandwiches for lunch and the other toe weekends at the local Italian social club running around the bocce lanes.
My father was born to Italian immigrants who barely spoke English. As children we sat around my nonno’s kitchen table wide eyed listening to a foreign language spoken between adults.
In 1979 we headed off to Italy for 3 months and celebrated my 8th birthday whilst there. Heading to Europe was like going to the moon back then with even a fan fare of people waving us off.
This trip would shape much of who I am and that eight year old did not want to leave Italy to go back home.
My love of food was ingrained from a young age as our meals were dishes no one had heard of yet such as tortellini in brodo or rise e bisi.
A career in hospitality seemed inevitable and eventually starting .
Seven years ago I connected with my cousin and was born. Small group tours showing the real Italy, it’s producers and artisans.
I don’t speak fluent Italian and just want to share my hearts truth of the region of my family. I am not seen as Italian in Italy, yet was made fun of growing up for being of Italian descent. (That’s a whole other story TBC 🤣)
Anyway I hope that gives some insight and I will continue to share more snippets of growing up in what seemed like 2 households!!

Bongiorno from Bassano del Grappa. I thought a photo of me with a dressing gown on was apt since I’ve been in one for days. I’ve been in bed for a few days with a terrible cold that led to a sinus infection. It’s not all aperitivo and sunsets 🤣.
Very grateful I was staying with family who looked after me with everything from pharmacy supplies to freshly squeezed Orange juice.
Still not 💯 but getting there.

I can’t believe this day has come. I don’t know what the next few months entails but a large part for me will be some R&R which is what has led me here in the first place.

With an open heart and mind this time away will cover all bases I’m sure.

Many of you have asked if I’m doing a tour of which the answer is no. Will I be doing any next year? Well this is part of the journey also to see what unfolds before me. I am certainly catching up with many suppliers and come what may as they say!!
The support shown for my decision to pack up stumps for 3 months has been overwhelming and I’m very grateful for the support. It hasn’t been easy in some ways and very easy in others to take on this much time away.
To my partner Garry. I can’t thank you enough for the love and support. I know your going to miss me ever so much as I you. Love you 😍
