The ultimate finale of Eat Local Month 2024 is fast approaching, jam-packed with 3 days of events, centred around the charming country town of Kalbar, from 29 to 30 June.🌿
𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟗 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 🥕
𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 offers the ultimate farm gate experience on a platter, surrounded by a spectacular patchwork of paddocks for which Kalbar is so famed. You can actually see where the produce has been grown. Come and meet the multi-generational farmers, producers, growers and food curators who grow for your table, and for your favourite restaurants. Or learn from the region's jam-makers, cheesemakers, picklers, bakers, butchers and brewers. Of course, there’s lots of tasting amid the talking!
Featuring over 60 stalls plus workshops, classes and cooking demonstrations by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador chefs, this event is not to be missed. Don't forget to pack the esky as there will be lots of delicious products available to purchase on the day.🌽🍦
You can also take a visit just down the road to 𝗔 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀. This event pays tribute to the pioneers in the ‘eat local’ movement. It’s a celebration that honours the history of food preparation and preservation and the recipes passed down through generations.🍓
After the day's festivities, kick on with the locals at the 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗲𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻, featuring live performances by the region’s country music star Laura Frank at The Cow Bar Kalbar.🎶

For this #WaterfallWednesday, we're checking out a stunner just an hour's drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast – Witches Falls at Tamborine Mountain 💦🌄
Perfect to hike with the kids, set aside 1hr and 15mins to complete the full 3.4km Witches Falls Circuit, which takes you through green rainforest to Witches Falls lookout. From the lookout, you'll see the peaceful waterfall bubbling on your left and vistas over rolling hills to your right 🏞️
If you find yourself working up an appetite while hiking, calm your cravings at Tamborine Mountain's many delicious eateries post-walk 🥪
⚠️ We recommend this walk to hikers with a beginner fitness level and please be cautious as the track can be muddy and slippery after rain.

Happy #WaterfallWednesday! 📍 Lamington National Park is the custodian of today's magic cascade; Toolona Falls 💦
To reach it, embark from O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat in the Green Mountain section of the park along the 17.4km Toolona Creek circuit, and after conquering some steep inclines, crossing some shallow creeks and stopping to marvel at other waterfalls on the trail, you'll arrive at the postcard-worthy Toolona Falls 🤩
Cool down in the misty spray from the cascade, then continue along the trail to pass more falls, hike up Mount Bithongabel and complete the loop back to the car park 🌄
⚠️ Warning: we recommend this grade 4 hike for experienced walkers with an excellent fitness level as it includes steep sections and is a lengthy walk. Allow at least five hours to complete the full circuit.

You may have seen 📍 Mount Barney National Park's Lower Portals, but we'd like to introduce you to the just as refreshing Upper Portals 💦
To visit this #WaterfallWednesday's set of cascades, head out on the 8km return hike leaving from the Information Kiosk in Mt May Campground (only accessible by 4WD) 🚙
This hike winds along fire trails to Yamahra Creek, where you'll cross it and follow the footpad a few hundred metres to arrive at the Upper Portals 🚶
Take your time soaking the sweat away in the cool natural pools, then return the way you came 🗺️
Warning: this grade 4 hike is suitable for experienced walkers with a great fitness level as it includes some steep sections and is a loosely-marked track. Allow four hours to complete the hike with time to swim in the natural pools ⚠️

This week's waterfall is Upper Ballanjui Falls in the Binna Burra section of 📍 Lamington National Park 🏞️
Leaving from Binna Burra Lodge, depart on the Dave's Creek Circuit and at the fork in the track, join the Ship Stern Circuit where you'll hike until you reach the Upper Ballanjui Track. This side trail will take you to the multi-tiered cascades and plunge pool at its base 🤩
After a cool dip and time to soak in the panoramic views, return on the same trail to complete the 10.3km hike, or continue the 21km Ship's Stern Circuit to see more awe-inspiring falls 🥾
⚠️ We recommend this grade 4 hike for experienced walkers with a good fitness level and navigational skills.

Recently we dropped our top tips for snapping the sky with your phone, but we hear you loud and clear - how do you make videos like this? 📽
@the_tired_photographer's seriously good setup captures a crisp image of our night skies on the move, but you can record time lapse videos of a similar effect on your phone 🤳
1. Set up your tripod – we recommend having 80% sky and 20% land in your camera frame to give your final video the look of the sky moving around the land. Once your tripod is set, refrain from touching it until you finish recording 📐
2. Set your camera to time lapse – this mode means your camera will snap images every couple of seconds and stitch together this collection of images to turn it into a video. On iPhone, you can do this by swiping to time lapse mode on the far left 👈
3. Set your exposure – on iPhone, tap the arrow at the top and slide the bar near your record button left or right to lower and raise your exposure. Generally, you'll find raising exposure will give you a better view of the stars, but slide to the point where the picture looks the most balanced to you ✔
4. Tap record – time lapses work best when recording over a long period, so once you hit record, step back and let your phone camera go to work ✨
