Just a reminder that today is a TOTAL FIRE BAN and a day of Extreme fire conditions.

Stay safe, keep hydrated and check on your neighours.

Thursday 26th of December is a day of Total Fire Ban across Victoria. This means that no fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01 AM until 11:59 PM Thursday 26 December 2024.

Also today, all regions except East Gippsland are at Extreme Fire Danger Ratings. This means that conditions are especially dangerous for people in areas near where bushfires are currently burning.

If you leave elevated risk areas, do so no later than 10 am on 26 December before the Extreme fire conditions begin. Be sure to let your family and friends know where you are going.

We know it’s warm, but if you’re looking for family fun and a great way to have some Christmas cheer head out tonight for Carols by Candlelight.

Benalla Carols by Candlelight celebrates the festive season with a community-focused evening of carols, music, and Christmas cheer. Organized by Benalla Lions and music by the Benalla Rose City Band and Benalla Theatre Company. Carols invites families and visitors to gather in the picturesque Benalla Botanical Gardens for a night of festive cheer..

The carols is an opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy the Christmas spirit, and participate in traditional carol singing. It's a great way to kick off the holiday season in a warm, welcoming environment.

Safety announcement:
The Great Vic Bike Ride is heading through parts of our shire this Wednesday as they make their way to Mansfield. Riders will be on Kilfera Road and Molyullah -Tatong Road and then the Midland Highway.
