Rikkara

Rikkara 19 Rikkara Avenue Barraga Bay This property offers total seclusion with no distractions. The property is a wildlife haven.

Rikkara is architect designed beach house set on 25 acres of Australian eucalypt forest on the stunning south coast of New South Wales, providing you total privacy and tranquility. It is a short 5 minute walk down a bush track to the secluded and stunning Armand's Bay beach (which is clothes optional), and it is another very short walk from there to the equally beautiful and private beach on Barra

ga Bay, and then on to the stunning Cuttagee surf beach. Expansive windows provide uninterrupted views of natural bush and ocean glimpses to the east, with louvers to catch the sea breeze. You are bathed in birdsong all day, and will find wallabies and kangaroos on the property, as well as lyre birds, and the odd goanna. Plenty of firewood is kept there for you to use in the wood-burner, just in case of cooler evenings

More beautiful music coming up at Four Winds!

SUN 12 MAY 3PM // ‘Of the Body’

Mother’s Day at Four Winds - an afternoon of soaring vocal textures and delicately interwoven melodies featuring Luminescence Chamber Singers performing ‘Of The Body’.

Composer and tenor ’s latest work will take centre stage, accompanied by rarely heard gems from the Renaissance period and select modern pop songs including Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love’.

During this beautiful afternoon audiences will hear music relating to each body part - the eyes, the hands, the mouth, the feet, the blood, and finally, the heart.

🎶

Luminescence are a brilliant example of how the dexterity of the human voice lends itself gorgeously to the rich and pure tones of Renaissance music – and this program sung acapella is no exception.

Relax and restore at the end of the week with this special offering.

SUN MAY 12 3PM // ‘Of the Body’

Luminescence are a dynamic group of six exceptionally talented and dedicated vocalists, each with a unique sound that meld together to perfection ✨

Rather than a traditional choir, Four Winds audiences are encouraged to think of them as a vocal ensemble, as you might a string quartet - with each vocalist singing a different line to create the score.

‘Of the Body’ weaves together a rich and compelling new work by composer and tenor Dan Walker alongside some rarely heard gems of the Renaissance period, plus a few modern pop songs!

Each movement of the song cycle is about a different body part - the eyes, the hands, the mouth, the feet, the blood, and finally, the heart.

As a vocalist in the group who will perform in the ensemble throughout the afternoon, Walker knows the intricacies and nuances of his colleagues incredible talents - and thus has composed the major piece in the program specifically for them.

After the concert, audiences will be able to meet the composer as well as the singers 🎶 Four Winds looks forward to seeing you there - book now via www.fourwinds.com.au

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Music Australia and Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body.

Can’t say enough about all the wonderful ocean and seaplane adventures on offer around Bermagui. Whale watching is our particular favourite!

Yesterday we had a wonderful Wildlife Adventure. We found the local Bottlenose dolphins off the middle of Merimbula beach, seals off the Haystack Rock and then spotted a black shape followed by a splash off the middle of Merimbula Bay. We headed over and found a beautiful pod of False Killer Whales 💙💙 They were quite spread out but we counted at least 40 of them heading south. We do not often sight these nomadic, often shy animals and are still buzzing from the encounter. There were several young calves in the pod which was so good to see.
With the weather starting to cool off the anticipation of this years whale watching season is starting to grow ….. There are sure to be a few early humpback sightings over the next few weeks, if you see any we would love to hear about it. We should then see good numbers migrating north by late May.
Looking forward to Whale Season 2024 🐋💙🐋💙
