Great day and night with 104.7 MMM Breakfast and Rush hour crews. Both crews just before going out to collect the yabbies for a feast and the inaugural world/Australian yabby shelling attempt by Mark Ricciuto.
A big thank you to the Breakfast & Rush Hour crews, the Mid Murray Council Mayor Simone Bailey witnessing the attempt and my brother Andrew for being the skipper for the other tinny and his help on the night.

Portee Homestead is offering eco wetland tours to guests and the public in an ex Royal Australian Navy utility boat.

The tour starts in the back waters of the Murray River in the wetlands of Portee Creek.
The tour then heads north into Moorundie wetlands and continues through to the Murray River and returns to the Homestead via Portee Creek.

The views in the wetlands are stunning with the abundance of birdlife and wildlife taking advantage of the flooded wetlands that have slowly turned into a lake.

The tour runs for an hour and the fee is $25 cash per person, maximum of 5 passengers, minimum of 4.

We have life jackets available.

If you would like to book a tour, please contact Kim Eddowes on Facebook or phone on 0422 550 558.

Portee Homestead

Portee is steeped in history, being amongst one of the earliest areas settled in South Australia outside the city of Adelaide.

Situated in the outback country. Portee is an easy 2-hour drive or 1/2hr flight from Adelaide. Portee has its own airstrip named in honour of Edward John Eyre, an early South Australian Explorer.

The homestead built in 1873 on the floodplain of the River Murray, is in the wetlands, allowing the abundant bird life that inhabits the slow flowing creek and age-old river gums to provide a unique experience in a tranquil and restful setting. The Murray River fronts the property, and the homestead has a private Portee creek surrounded by wetlands.

The Murray River is accessible by 4WD for boating, jet skis, canoes and kayaking enthusiasts. A private area with slipway and pontoon.
