Some interesting history of our beautiful hinterland 🍃

According to First Nations legend, the Glass House Mountains represent a family: Tibrogargan (father), Beerwah (mother), Coonowrin (eldest son), Tunbubudla (twins), Beerburrum, and Elimbah (sisters).

These mountains hold deep sacred value to the Traditional Owners of the land, including the Jinibara and Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) people. Scandi at Maleny honors their enduring connection to the land, water, culture, and community, recognizing that sovereignty was never ceded.

Some unique, custom-made pieces fill the cabin these days.

At the start, we needed to fit within an ‘opening’ budget, but with time, it’s been wonderful to replace (and donate) those ‘regular’ items with unique pieces made with pure heart by one of our very talented friends, such as our entry console and our bedside tables.

I was delighted to be invited by the wonderful folk at last month to nominate 10 of our Hosting With Heart Listed Members for inclusion in this just-published piece promoting sustainable tourism.

As the article says, these aren't properties that are just ticking a few cursory green boxes, they are properties conscientiously stewarded by owners that genuinely see hosting as not just an opportunity to provide unique experiences and memories for guests, but as a vehicle to address social and environmental issues.

This is what HWH - at its very essence - is all about.
