The President of the Queens Beach State School Parent and Citizens Association, Peter, , called into the Bowen Visitor Information Centre next to The Big Mango last week to have a chat about what is happening at the school. He is pictured here with our Visitor Services Co-Ordinator, Glenn, as he also bought some presents and was impressed by our gift range. The school is holding a holiday raffle and would love some support from our community.

Heaps of beaten-up cars and their crews made the trek from Bendigo to Townsville recently for the Sh*tbox Rally, raising money for cancer research. Although Bowen was not on the route this time, plenty of people called in at the Bowen Visitor Information Centre next to the The Big Mango on their way home. Trisha (aka Bushy) and Russini (aka Rusty) took part for the first time - 3800kms in 6 days – and they raised almost $10,000.

There were a lot of visitors in town in the past few days for the "Grown in NQ" event organised by Bowen Gumlu Growers. We enjoyed chatting to some of the presenters and other attendees who came to the Bowen Visitor Information Centre next to The Big Mango to check out the merchandise and local produce we have on offer. Pictured are Rose, Shakira and Cherry who purchased souvenirs to take home.

Whitsunday Regional Council has announced that the refurbishment of the Collinsville Pool is now complete.
The upgrades included:
• New bulkhead to create a competition level 25m pool
• Remaining 7.5m wide pool area on the other side of the bulkhead will remain as general pool usage for all users
• Full replacement of the pool tiles and repairs to wet deck
• Chlorine tank removal and replace
• Refurbish and replacement of pumps
