Days 38 and 39 of 51 - South America Grand Adventure Cruise

🌟 2 Days in Rio de Janeiro 🌟

We were excited to experience the magic of Rio!

From the beaches of Copacabana to the iconic Christ the Redeemer, this city has it all. 😍 And of course, no visit would have been complete without the breathtaking views from Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) 🏞️—a must-see landmark that offers a panoramic view of Rio's beauty. We took a cable car ride to the top and we're amazed by the stunning vistas.

Check out our photos as we explored the vibrant streets, savored the local flavors, and immerse ourselves in the lively rhythm of this unforgettable city! 🇧🇷💃

Buenos Aires Highlights!

Buenos Aires stole our hearts with its vibrant culture and rich history! This city is a dream for architecture lovers and foodies alike! Here's what we loved most:

🎨 La Boca: This colourful neighborhood is alive with art, music, and tango! Caminito Street was a feast for the eyes and soul, with its bright facades and lively atmosphere.

✨ Tango: The Dance of Passion: We watched couples move with incredible grace and intensity—it’s not just a dance; it’s a story told with every step. From intimate milongas to grand tango shows, La Boca and San Telmo are hotspots for authentic tango vibes!

🥩 Argentinian Steak: The rumours are true—the local steak at San Telmo here is out of this world! Juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection. A must-try for any foodie!
🍦 Gelato Heaven: Who knew gelato could rival Italy's? The creamy, flavourful scoops here were the perfect treat after a day of exploring. We visited Cadore a well know Gelato shop in BA.

🏛️ The Pink Palace (Casa Rosada): An iconic landmark with stunning architecture and so much history. Standing in Plaza de Mayo, it’s a must-see for any visit!

✨ Architectural Wonders: Everywhere we turned, we found grand facades, intricate designs, and charming streetscapes. Buenos Aires truly showcases its European influence.

One of the highlights of our trip was experiencing the Changing of the Guards at the Pink Palace (Casa Rosada).Seeing the guards in their regal uniforms and the formalities of the event was truly captivating! 📍 Tip: Arrive early to secure a good spot and soak in the atmosphere of the historic Plaza de Mayo.

Another stunning place we visited was the shopping centre called Galerías Pacífico.
✨ A Work of Art: This shopping mall is housed in a historic building with breathtaking frescoed ceilings that rival some of the world’s finest museums. Walking through feels like stepping into an art gallery.

One of the most fascinating places we visited in Buenos Aires was🕍 Recoleta Cemetery: This world-famous cemetery is like an open-air museum, with stunning mausoleums, intricate sculptures, and the resting place of notable figures, including Eva Perón (Evita). A serene yet captivating experience!

Buenos Aires is truly a city that dances to its rhythm. Have you been or would you like to visit this city? Share your thoughts below! 👇

We love sharing photos of our Fare Way travelers! 📸

This wonderful couple, Nat and Brett, recently celebrated a birthday aboard the Carnival Luminosa, cruising to the beautiful Whitsundays.

Nat and Brett also enjoyed a fantastic perk during their Carnival cruise – the Cloud 9 Spa Access, which was part of their fare. They told us it was a highlight of their journey, and they could’ve easily spent all their days there, it was that relaxing! 🧖‍♀️🧖‍♂️

A huge thank you to Nat and Brett for sharing these beautiful photo memories with us. We’re so happy you had such an amazing time!

It was their first time sailing with Carnival, and they’re excited to be sailing on P&O Encounter again later this month. We can’t wait to hear their comparison of the two ships!

Montevideo is the capital and largest city of Uruguay, located on the southeastern coast of the country along the Río de la Plata estuary. It is a major cultural, political, and economic center for Uruguay. Known for its beautiful waterfront, historical buildings, and vibrant cultural life, Montevideo offers a mix of colonial, modern, and art deco architecture. Popular places to visit include:

La Rambla: A long promenade along the coastline with views of the Río de la Plata.
Plaza Independencia: A central square with statues and the Solis Theatre, one of the oldest in Latin America.
Ciudad Vieja: The city's historic old town with colonial-era buildings, markets, and restaurants.

Next stage of our journey...
South America Grand Adventure Cruise on Majestic Princess
Days 27 to 29 of 51

From Cape Horn, we sailed onwards to the Falkland Islands, but the weather had other plans for us! The conditions were too risky for the tender boats, so we had to admire the islands from afar. They looked barren and gloomy from the distance, but onward we went!

Sailing for our next stop Puerto Madryn!
On the way we were lucky enough to spot numerous pods of whales as we cruised up the coast – a truly magical experience! The wildlife here is extraordinary, and it’s moments like these that make this journey so special

Puerto Madryn is known for its stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife located on the Patagonian coast of Argentina, it's especially famous for the annual migration of Southern Right Whales to the nearby Peninsula Valdés, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Besides whales, Puerto Madryn is also renowned for its rich marine life, including sea lions, penguins, and diverse bird species. The area is a gateway to explore Patagonia's unique landscapes, including pristine beaches, coastal cliffs, and dramatic geological formations. It's a haven for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers.

South America Grand Adventure Cruise on Majestic Princess

Meet Vicki Bowne - our Princess Cruises' "Destination Expert" on our South America cruise who provides in-depth knowledge and advice to guests about the various ports of call and destinations featured on cruise itineraries

What does their role include?

Destination Information: They offer detailed insights about the places passengers will visit, including cultural highlights, local attractions, historical facts, and hidden gems.

Personalized Recommendations: They assist guests in planning shore excursions that align with their interests, whether it's sightseeing, adventure, relaxation, or local experiences.

Travel Tips: They provide practical information like the best time to visit, local customs, dining options, and transportation, ensuring guests have the best possible experience.

Guided Talks and Events: Many Destination Experts host onboard presentations or events to help passengers get excited about the upcoming destinations. These talks can cover a range of topics, from local history to unique aspects of each port.

Cultural and Environmental Insights: They may also share information about the region’s culture, cuisine, geography, and environmental aspects, enhancing the overall cruise experience.

Essentially, Destination Experts enrich the cruise by giving travelers the tools and knowledge they need to make the most of each stop on their journey.

Not all cruise lines have destination experts and I hope Princess continues to do so, as it certainly enhances the guests travel experience.
