IMPORTANT CHANGES! Expanding pathways to PR for temporary skilled sponsored workers:

Employers will now be able to nominate holders of all TSS visa streams, including Short-term and Labour Agreement streams, for permanent residency.

The period to apply for permanent residency via the TRT stream will be reduced from 3 to 2 years.

Closure of the Pandemic Event visa

​The Migration Tasmania Application Gateway is now open for anyone seeking Tasmanian nomination of a subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional or subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa.

2. Application Gateway - Registration of Interest (ROI) Create a Gateway account and submit an ROI to request your interest in visa state nomination. You will receive a confirmation of your ROI in an email also stating your assessment priority in the Tasmanian Skilled Migration queue.

There is NO minimum income requirement for the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191)! You must provide notices of assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for three income years out of the five years of their eligible visa.

Last year the Australian Government announced it would suspend the requirement for a Skills Assessment for Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) visas. The suspension came into effect on July 1, 2022 and was for a year.

The Government restored the requirement from this July 1 and we will resume conducting assessments of qualifications for the Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) visa from that date.

South Australia’s Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa allocations have been exhausted for 2022-23. However, the General Skilled Migration program will remain open until 8 June 2023. This means that pending an allocation of Subclass 190 nominations from the Commonwealth Government for the 2023-2024 program year, applicants who are assessed as eligible for a Subclass 190 nomination will receive this nomination in the upcoming program year.

IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR)

From 14 December 2022, IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) will be available for certain test takers. OSR allows test takers to retake one of the four test components in either reading, writing, speaking or listening (once only).

For Australian visa purposes, the Department will accept IELTS test results that include OSR, with the exception of applications for subclasses 476, 482, and 485, which need scores from a single sitting/attempt.
