We recently did a trip up to Mareeba and Cooktown. Was so surprised how beautiful Cooktown is. Can't say how much we bloody love this truck. So much freedom and comfort.
We often get asked why we tow the van when we have the rooftop. We use the rooftop for overnighters, or weekends to the islands. But we love the van as much as the truck. It will go anywhere the truck goes and is indestructible and so damn easy and comfy! If you're looking for a van to tow behind your truck, happy to share our experiences, as this is our second MDC van. Feel free to reach out. After taking a moment to reflect on our recent trip out to the Big Red Bash, at Birdsville, with the amazing people we’ve met through the MDC & AUSRV Owners Group, it reminded us of the dedication the people of the MDC Paddock have to fundraising for two very deserving causes, being the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) and Juveniles Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The prize pool this year was the biggest by far, with many great companies donating.

Special thanks to Airbag Man, for their continued support with raffle donations again this year.

With a combination of the raffles within the MDC Paddock and the epic cook-up by a fellow MDC Owner, 'Rolly Round the Campfire' (from Memories Not Money), and the many hands that helped, the Paddock managed to raise just short of $7000.

As all food for the cook-up was donated by another awesome owner of an MDC that meant 100% of all ticket sales went directly to these two very worthy causes.

Well done to Daniel, who donates his time to organise / co-ordinate the MDC Paddock, and to all that assisted. It’s a fun week and very unique experience.

The Big Red Bash is well worth adding to your bucket list if you haven’t been.

Ever been to River Heads?

It's a great spot if you have a boat 🚣‍♀️🚤🛥or jetski, as the boat ramp across to K'Gari/Fraser is just down the road. It's also a quick 15 - 20 minute drive up to Hervey Bay beaches 🏖.

We did a short stay at Fraser Coast RV Park, which has beautiful sites ⛺️.

Tips:
• At the RV Park, hire a private Toilet/Shower 🚽🚿. It was nice after a hot day 🔥🥵, or a day swimming at the beach 🌊, to have a good shower.
• Mozzies and Midgies 🦟 are about but we used a Thermocell and it was enough to keep them away.
• There's nowhere nice to swim within walking distance. However it's a nice 15 minute drive up to Hervey Bay for fish and chips 🐟🍟and beaches ⛱️

Beaches 🏖
• We did Point Vernon, which has several mini private beaches scattered along the Point. Very rocky 🪨 at high tide. Dog friendly 🐶 (see Cruz, the Frenchie, paddling in the video).
• Urangan has a nice green park with a small walk down onto the beach. It has a large sand flat with a walk out to the small waves. Also has small sections that catch pools of water, great for kids and dogs 👶🐾.
• Toogoom also has a large section of beach with plenty of area to spread out (see the last few pictures in the video). The northern end is a nice walk up to Goody’s On The Beach, which has amazing food 🍔 🥗🍤 and super friendly staff. Dog friendly - beach and Goody’s. Goodys brought out a fresh bowl of ice water for the puppies when we sat down 💧🐕 👏💖.

We live in such a beautiful country and one of the reasons is the wildlife.
