Wishart parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event every Saturday at 7am. Walkers and runners welcome! You never know, you could make friends for life!

Wishart parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and standards, which takes place every Saturday at 7am in Wishart, QLD, Australia 14km SE of Brisbane's CBD. Wishart parkrun is FREE and open to people of all abilities and ages, both as volunteers and as walkers, joggers and runners. Please register at parkrun.com.au and bring your printed barcode along.

We encourage anyone in our community to take part, from those taking their first steps in walking or running, through to Olympians, from juniors 5 years or older to those with decades of experience. Younger participants are also welcome, and it’s common to see families with prams enjoying Wishart parkrun. It’s not possible to come ‘last’ or be left behind at parkrun! All participants receive encouragement and enjoy being part of a community event open to all. Equally, our volunteer teams come from a huge variety of backgrounds and we urge everybody to get involved in volunteering at their local parkrun event at least 3 times per year. EVENT #475 22nd June 2024

Hi everyone.

Only two more sleeps before our next parkrun! The weather forecast for Saturday is a good one. It will be a cool start (12oC minimum) and partly cloudy with a 30% chance of light showers during the day. Our Run Directors (Neil and Karen), will continue to monitor the weather closely and update you promptly about any potential hazards that may arise.

Thankfully we have a full roster of volunteers for our event! A special thanks goes to Damien who offered to do the photography. Please feel free, however, to add your name to any of the vacant spots in the roster that are available over the next few weeks.

Thanks again to our volunteers. We appreciate all your efforts. A quick reminder: if you are a volunteer for this week, but have not yet received a reminder e-mail, please check your “other” or “junk” e-mail folders. Wishart parkrun #474

What a wonderful morning, 213 walkers, joggers and runners joined us at Wishart today.

We welcomed 24 newcomers, some came from Darwin, Roma and Toowoomba and 29 did PBs, young Thomas won in a speedy time of 18.10, Brendan Beard celebrated his 100th parkrun milestone, whilst another celebrated a 50th. It was great to see so many smiling faces on such a chilly morning.

A big THANK YOU to our volunteers today, Annita, Barbara, Deb, Dominic, Grace, Italia, Laurel and William.

A very special message of appreciation and thanks goes to our lovely Jennifer Hunt who has given us four Volunteer umbrellas to GIVEAWAY as a special promotion for Volunteering at parkrun...

So WATCH THIS SPACE & CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING at an upcoming parkrun so that you can have a chance to win.

EVENT # 474: Pre-run Announcement.

Hi everyone.

Our next awesome parkrun event is almost here! The weather forecast for the Saturday is promising. We can look forward to cool start (9oC minimum) but it will be sunny, with only a 5% chance of showers during the day. Our Run Directors (Neil and Karen), will continue to monitor the weather conditions closely and update you promptly about any other potential hazards that may arise.

Thankfully we have a full roster of volunteers for our event! Please feel free, however, to add your name to any of the vacant spots in the roster that are available over the next few weeks. We are particularly keen to pick up a BARCODE SCANNER and PHOTOGRAPHER for NEXT week.

Wishart parkrun #473

It was very fresh this morning for our 215 parkrunners. We welcomed 6 first timers and 26 visitors. Well done to the 29 who got a new PB today!

🐶 We love to welcome furry friends to parkrun, but Dog owners we need your help to avoid dog noise complaints from our neighbours. If your dog loves parkrun so much that they ‘talk’ at the start, please start on the cement pathway, not in the main start chute area. You’ll notice a handful of dog owners and prams who already use this area. 😊
Our Run Directors can help Dog owners with options for starting spots. Please have a chat to us before the run briefing on Saturday if you’re stuck on where to start.

We welcomed 242 participants to a misty event #472 at Wishart parkrun, including visitors from Tassie and Melbourne! Congratulations to Nathan on completing his 50th parkrun, and big thanks to our volunteer team of Pat, Karen, Ian, Jennifer, Mtho, Carine, Lauren, Vicky, Luba and Barb.

Next week we need a timekeeper unless of course you are happy to all have the time of 59:59! We also need a barcode scanner. We had lots of fabulous humans add their names to future dates on the volunteer roster today - thank you for ensuring Wishart parkrun’s viability. ☺️

Congratulations to the almost 160 people who braved the soggy conditions at Wishart parkrun this morning. It was wonderful to welcome visitors and people completing their first parkrun ever! We also celebrated Narelle’s 200th run and Jude’s 100th volunteer + birthday milestones! 🥳 🎂

This morning’s event would not have occurred without our volunteer team of Garry, Chris, Barb, Matthew, Les, Jo, JJ, Jude, Dominic, Jeff, Neil and Troy. We have HEAPS of upcoming volunteer opportunities, please let us know if you’d like a spot on the roster.

We look forward to welcoming you for a special celebration parkrun at Wishart tomorrow! One of our super volunteers Jude Co is celebrating her 100th volunteer 🤩 and a milestone birthday!! If you’d like to join the fun, please wear or accessorise with black, and ‘jump for Jude’ as part of the on-course photos that she will be taking.

Our main run briefing will start at 6:50am - slightly earlier than usual as we have some photo plans! If you’re coming to Wishart for the first time we’d love to welcome you with a special briefing at 6:45am. 😊

Please let Jeff, Garry or Monique know if there are any other milestones we can celebrate!🥳
We do need LOTS of volunteers in June, so please take inspiration from Jude’s efforts and pop your name onto our roster.

We need two barcode scanners for this Saturday 25th May at Wishart parkrun! This is the perfect role for friends with smartphones to undertake; and you can even hold a hot drink whilst volunteering. ☕️

The following fabulous volunteer opportunities are also available for the start of June.

Wishart’s very own Wayne Spies won his second Cadbury Marathon in Tasmania on Sunday. Backing up his victory in 2022, Wayne won this years event in 2:31:44, although not a PB it was enough to get him the chocolates. We are very proud of your achievements Wayne. Congratulations. This time is the equivalent of 8.5 x 18 min parkruns!!! I am having a lot of issues trying to post a vid and photo so checkout the comments for the finish line photo. Have a great week all. Cheers. Our Story

Wishart parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners, joggers and walkers of all standards. Wishart parkrun takes place every Saturday at 7am in Wishart, QLD, Australia 14km SE of Brisbane's CBD. Our start and finish area is in Wishart Community Park, in Maibry St, Wishart. Wishart parkrun is FREE and open to people of all levels of fitness, levels of enthusiasm and ages, both as volunteers and as runners / walkers. We encourage people of every ability to take part, from those who are keen for a morning stroll, to those taking their first steps in running to Olympians, from juniors 5 years or older to those with decades of experience. All participants receive encouragement and enjoy being part of a community event open to anyone who would like to be involved. Equally, our volunteer teams come from a huge variety of backgrounds and we urge everybody to get involved in the organisation of Wishart parkrun at least 3 times per year.
