As the year winds down, let’s pause and marvel at one of Africa’s greatest wonders: the Great Migration. Over 2 million wildebeest and zebras journey across the Serengeti and Maasai Mara every year in search of greener pastures—a true testament to resilience and survival.

Late December sees the herds spread throughout the eastern and southern reaches. In the early months of the new year, the grasses in the deep south of the Serengeti are lush with rain, drawing the herds down to graze and give birth.

What’s the ultimate way to kick off the new year? A Great Migration safari in Tanzania’s Serengeti of course.

From January to March, the Serengeti transforms into a magical nursery as 500,000 wildebeest calves are born—at a staggering rate of 8,000+ a day during peak calving season. Witness this breathtaking phenomenon on the open plains of Ndutu, where safety in numbers meets heart-racing predator action.

But that’s just the beginning! Tanzania’s Northern Circuit offers:
The iconic Ngorongoro Crater—a haven for the Big Five.
