I realised very early on in my Africa safari days that travel is where I seemed to experience the rawest emotions. Happiness, overwhelming sadness and pure joy, often almost simultaneously! These photos were taken as I sat in a photo hide (like a bunker) just a metre away from elephants! There were three of them - one was called One Tonne and he's a big tusker.. there's only around 20 left in the world. I was so happy to be so close yet so sad knowing I may never see another big tusker in my life because so few remain in the world. And then pure joy kicked in - here I was, just me and the elephants. I got to watch these majestic creatures move so silently through the landscape, pausing right in front of me to drink. Great Plains Conservation
