ℹ️ 2024–25 State and Territory Nomination Allocations have been released!

Nomination allocations indicate the number of new primary applicants each state or territory can nominate within a program year.

It is important to note that nomination allocations do not represent the total number of visa applicants in these categories and do not limit the number of visas that can be granted.

👊 Integrity in the International Student System.

From 1st July 2024:

🚫 Visitor Visa holders will no longer be able to apply for Student Visas onshore.

🚫 Temporary Graduate Visa holders will also be restricted from applying for Student Visas onshore.

🔒 Closing the loopholes in international education.

Together, these changes will significantly reduce net overseas migration. The Government is on track to halve net overseas migration by next financial year.

From July 2024, the provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188) will close to new applications and expressions of interest.

Applications that have already been lodged will continue to be processed in line with government processing priorities and migration planning levels.

Current subclass 188 visa holders who meet the criteria may still apply for the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888).

If eligible, 188 visa holders may apply for the extension stream if they require extra time to meet 888 visa requirements.

More information will be available on our website soon.

In the 2024-25 Federal budget, the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) has taken a significant hit, receiving only 16,900 visa allocations compared to 30,375 the previous year. This drastic reduction (44%) highlights a clear shift in government strategy towards favouring employer-sponsored and state/territory-nominated visas.

NSW Pathway 1 - Updated Nomination Criteria

Previously, applicants for Pathway 1 were required to have been living and working in a designated regional area of NSW for at least 12 months with a single regional NSW-based employer, among other requirements. Based on industry feedback at our recent Regional Skilled Migration seminars, we are now reducing this employment duration requirement to 6 months.

Key Changes:

Reduced Employment Duration: Applicants must now be currently living and working in a designated regional area of NSW and have continuously done so for the past 6 months, instead of the previous 12 months.
This change means that more skilled workers will be eligible to apply for the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) under Pathway 1, opening up opportunities for those who have been contributing to the regional economy and communities for six months.
