Benvenuto a Ischia! Welcome to Ischia and the gorgeous ! This 5 star hotel overlooks the sea and is surrounded by three hectares of green spaces and a wonderful Mediterranean garden. Ischia’s hidden bays and coves, its rustic charm and its small towns make the island a unique and authentic Italian getaway.

I absolutely loved my three night stay here and highly recommend Ischia for anyone looking for a quieter alternative for that Italian summer getaway!

The ancient town of Herculaneum lies between Rome and Naples. Also buried in lava in 79 AD from Mt Vesuvius’s eruption, Herculaneum was preserved quite differently to Pompeii. The site is smaller and its mosaics, fresco colours, wooden beams and furnishings are striking.

If you’ve done Pompeii previously or you’re short on time then Herculaneum is a great alternative spot!

Welcome to the Maalot Roma! Tucked off a cobblestoned street literally steps from the Trevi Fountain, this gem of a hotel is the perfect Roman base. It’s also hands down delivered one of the warmest and most welcoming hotel arrival experiences anywhere!

The decor is decadent yet quirky and playful. Bold colours, beautiful textures, soaring sealings and a fresco or two - I mean, it’s not Rome without a fresco!

I’m already planning my pre-breakfast stroll to the Trevi Fountain and hopefully seeing it with a few less tourists than in the daytime!

Congratulations to the winner of our gift basket at the Symbiosis International Breakfast!

Symbiosis is a charity based in Bangladesh which provides the most underprivileged and marginalised Bangladeshis with tools and life skills with which to break the cycle of poverty. Their programs include functional education, community based savings programs, vocational training opportunities and primary health care including maternal health, eye care and access to safe, clean water.

Sonia has been personally involved with Symbiosis for over a decade and has seen some of their projects first-hand.
