Hi everyone, we would like to share an update on our Australian cruise operations.
P&O Cruises Australia is today announcing a return to cruising on 31 May, 2022 with the launch of a new 2022 program of sailings from Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.
It follows the Federal Government’s decision to lift the cruise ban from April 17 – a major development and the first critical step to enable cruising and its contribution to the national economy to resume after the two-year suspension of operations.
This is a big moment and means we are finally on the path to a restart!
The next important step is for state governments to reopen their ports to cruise ships. Discussions are progressing with the eastern states to finalise a set of health protocols.
We have reset our plans to stagger the return of our fleet in a way that enables us to bring our ships and crew back to Australia as smoothly as possible. The new 2022 program includes:
• Pacific Explorer will sail from Sydney on May 31 on a four-night roundtrip cruise to Brisbane, where the ship is scheduled to make the first call at the city’s new cruise terminal on June 2.
• Pacific Explorer will then sail from Sydney on a series of Queensland and South Pacific cruises until late October, replacing Pacific Adventure’s scheduled program.
• Pacific Adventure will begin her maiden season of cruises from Sydney on October 22, when Pacific Explorer will sail to Adelaide for a new mini-season of four cruises.

Restrictions on the entry of cruise vessels into and within Australian territory has been extended to 17/04/2022, however the good news is that there was an agreement at National Cabinet that the Commonwealth, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland agreed to work with the industry to implement new protocols to enable the resumption of cruising over coming months.
The Commonwealth can remove the restrictions on cruising as soon as it is advised that it is safe to do so and the Minister will regularly review this advice.
It's a step in the right direction!
