A plan to put sculptures underwater at the Busselton Jetty is going swimmingly!

The first of the art has started to arrive at the jetty.

13 sculptures will be sunk around the jetty in coming months to make an underwater dive and snorkel trail.

It’s hoped the initiative will attract visitors (and marine life) to the world-renowned jetty.

This 3m steel fish took artist Scott Michell about 300 hours to complete 😮

⚠️ Village Construction Update ⚠️

✅ TRAIN & UNDERWATER OBSERVATORY TOURS STILL RUNNING ✅

Today marks the start of construction for the new Village & Marine Discovery Centre at the end of the Jetty! Woohoo!!

The Village & MDC is due to be completed in July of 2023 and will transform the overall visitor experience by offering something for everyone, including respite areas for our 100+ volunteers, locally sourced, world-class food and beverages to quench your hunger and thirst after the long journey out, as well as the Marine Discovery Centre, where visitors will be educated on the wonders of the sea below the Jetty and beyond! 🐟🐬

Please note, Return Train Rides & Underwater Observatory Tours will continue as normal for the whole period of construction as it's only the last 100m of Jetty, North of the Underwater Observatory that will be closed to members of the public. 💙

157 years ago the first footsteps made their journey all the way to the end of the Busselton Jetty, however things were a little different around these parts back then both on the timber and along the shore!

​These days the waterfront precinct that greets visitors to the longest timber piled jetty in the southern hemisphere provides everything holidays makers could want to entertain themselves with from gourmet restaurants to a playground that has to be seen to be believed, skate and other sport facilities and one of The Margaret River Regions newest breweries Shelter Brewing Co 🍻

Of course this all before you even set foot on the board walk and make the 1.8 kilometre hike out to sea where you get to choose which adventurous activity you'll fill the rest of the day in with - catching the fish of the day, spotting sea life at the underwater observatory, taking a SeaTREK undersea helmet walk or perhaps simply riding the red train all the way to the very end as you give a smug grin to the pedestrians at the half way mark 😏

​Since 1865 this iconic landmark has sure seen her share adversity however she still stands strong today thanks to the passionate Busselton community who rallied together forming the Busselton Jetty Environment and Conservation Association, bringing her up to the condition you see her in currently and captured here by 📷 Osprey Creative.
