And yet. Our local photographer reminds us that life still goes on for ordinary folk in Iran, which remains, despite its troubles, a beautiful country rich in ancient culture. If you do get the chance ever to visit (despite the warnings), they say, “I would recommend immersing yourself in Iranian families. The interactions, social activities, gatherings, travels, foods, jokes, political discussions and other engagements are what truly make Iranians unique. Simply walking on the streets allows you to feel the presence of culture, history, art, and poetry in daily Iranian life.”

One of the many things you can do after going to Shiraz (Iran) is to find Darb-e Shahzadeh region and drown in the many attractions it offers. Vakil Mosque or Soltani Mosque shines brightly among these attractions. It was built in the Zand era upon the command of Karim Khan Zand.
According to authentic documents, Vakil Mosque was built in 1773. It was simultaneously under construction together with Vakil Bazaar and the square.
The architectural detail of Vakil Mosque is admirable but the most amazing parts are its three arches that are unrivaled in Shiraz at least: the arch above the entrance, the pearl arch, and the large seraglio arch. The carvings on these arches are too fabulous to be ignored.
The simplicity of the Iranian art and Persian paintings and writings on the walls, eye-catching tiling, and the delicate use of colors are all the beautiful details that immediately attract any visitors.

the Rayen Castle (Persian: ارگ راين Arg-e Rāyen) is an adobe castle 100 kilometers south of Kerman province, Iran. It is situated on the outskirts of the Hezar Masjed Mountains. The medieval mudbrick city of Rayen is similar to Arg-e Bam which was destroyed in an earthquake in December of 2003. Rayen displays numerous architectural elements of an Iranian citadel. It is well preserved, despite numerous natural disasters that have destroyed similar structures nearby.
the Rayen Castle is assumed to have been inhabited until 150 years ago in 1868. Although believed to be at least 1,000 years old, it may have foundations from the pre-Islamic Sassanid era. According to the old documents, it was situated on the trade route, and was one of the centres for trading valuable goods and quality textiles. It was also a centre of sword and knife manufacturing and later on guns. During the reign of third Yazdgerd of the Sassanian King, Arabs failed conquer the city presumably due to its high walls

Vank Cathedral, also known the Church of the Saintly Sisters, is a cathedral located in the New Julfa district of Isfahan, Iran. It is commonly referred to as the Vank (Վանք; وانک), which means "monastery" or "convent" in the Armenian language.
The cathedral was established in 1606, built by the hundreds of thousands of Armenians who were forcibly resettled by Shah Abbas I in his new capital as part of his scorched-earth policy in Armenia during the Ottoman War of 1603-1618. The Armenian community been forced to move to Isfahan, however Shah Abbas help them to settle in Isfahan, and supported them to run their oown businesses back those days. It is believed that Shah Abbas were interested to have Armenian art and skilss in his capital, also using them to build better rapprt with Europeans. A matter that Armenians were keen for it too.
The varying fortunes and independence of this suburb across the Zayande River and its eclectic mix of European missionaries, mercenaries and travelers can be traced almost chronologically in the cathedral's combination of building styles and contrasts in its external and internal architectural treatment. Also, from lots of aspects this architecture is quite unique. As it is the fusion of Islamic architecture and an Armenian church. So this fusion has created such an extraordinary heritage in this part of Iran.
The construction is believed to have begun in 1606 by the first arrivals, and completed with major alterations to design between 1655 and 1664 under the supervision of Archbishop David. The cathedral consists of a domed sanctuary, much like an Iranian mosque, but with the significant addition of a semi-octagonal apse and raised chancel usually seen in western churches. The cathedral's exteriors are in relatively modern brickwork and are exceptionally plain compared to its elaborately decorated interior.
The interior is covered with fine frescos and gilded carvings and includes a wainscot of rich tile work. The delicately blue and gold painted central dome depicts the Biblical story of the creation of the world and man's expulsion from Eden. Pendentives throughout the church are painted with a motif of a cherub's head surrounded by folded wings typical of Armenian art. The ceiling above the entrance is painted with delicate floral motifs in the style of Persian miniature. Two sections, or bands, of murals run around the interior walls: the top section depicts events from the life of Jesus, while the bottom section depicts tortures inflicted upon Armenian martyrs by the Ottoman Empire.
