Recently we joined for the 3rd year apart of the Milbi Festival 2024. We love working, making connections and friendships with our local community and businesses. These photos capture a beautiful moment with Lisa, being presented with a message stick that represents our journey on the Burnett River with a symbol that represents the Taribelang Bunda connection with Bundy Belle. Lisa accepted on behalf of both her and husband Dale (pictured behind), owners and operators of the Bundy Belle. We look forward to connecting in the future and again in 2025.

Gaz and Paul were the first people to come and make their mark on our reconciliation mural this morning. Thanks so much for calling in Gaz and Paul to learn a little bit about us, and for us to learn a little bit about you both!

You can come and make your mark on our reconciliation mural until 1 pm and between 3 and 4 pm today. You can also pop in tomorrow 11am to 1pm and 3 to 4 pm.

Don’t forget about our family fun day on Sunday, where you can come and make your mark and enjoy some of the activities, 10am to 1pm.

We were invited to perform a Welcome to Country at Nielsons Beach at Bargara last Saturday for the Raising of the Flags and commencement of the patrolling season for Surf Life Saving Queensland. Uncle Will acknowledged the deep connection that the Taribelang Bunda people have with these coastal lands and waters, and the stories, knowledge, and cultural significance that have been passed down through generations.

Uncle Will also recognised the important work of the Bundaberg Surf Life Saving Club, whose dedication and vigilance keep our community safe on these beaches year after year. Their commitment to protecting lives reflects the values of care and respect for both people and country, and we thank them for their continued service.

Together, we continue the tradition of watching over this beautiful country, ensuring that it remains safe and respected for all who visit.

Today the 12th of September is R U OK? Day. This national day dedicated to reminding everyone to support those struggling with life's ups and downs. This year's theme is 'Ask R U OK? Any Day'.

As Traditional Custodians of the Bundaberg Regional area, it is important to Taribelang Bunda to care for the land and all who resides, that is our culture. Communication and connections can always help someone who's facing their darkest days, with a simple smile or 'R U OK?'

Today is Indigenous Literacy Day for 2024. Our team enjoys visiting our local Kindergartens and schools, teaching through Taribelang Bunda culture. Reading and writing is essential of everyday life but is not always easy for everyone.

🎉Congratulations to Bundaberg's C&K Walkervale Community Kindergarten which has been named a finalist in the 2024 HESTA Early Childhood Education and Care Awards for its dedication to improving outcomes for First Nations children and families. 👪
The awards have been running since 2010, and recognise the front-line educators and carers at the very heart of Australia's early childhood education system. Winners will be announced on September 19. 👏

Last weekend it was great to see an awesome turnout for the Canterberry Bulldogs and Dolphins match at Salters Oval. Before they took to the field a tradition of Welcome to Country was performed opening a safe passage for the visiting teams. This custom has been practiced by Aboriginal tribespeople and Taribelang Bunda for hundreds of generations.

Recently our team were invited to open the celebrations at Monduran Dam for the Fred Haigh Dam 5oth Anniversary. We were honoured to be a part of the celebrations which was held a culturally important area of the Taribelang Bunda that was originally named using Taribelang Bunda Language, Monduran.

Sunwater hosted a guest list ranging from former employees who planned and constructed the dam between 1970 - 1974, current Sunwater employees, and Irrigation and Water Industry representatives. Thank you Sunwater for a fantastic event, it was great to see many of the guests take part throughout the smoking ceremony at the start of this celebration.
