A Morning to Remember with Fun Over 50 Holidays Green Getaway Guests!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming our guests of - Great Keppel and Milbi Tour on an incredible cultural journey with Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours.

Together, we explored the rich history, vibrant traditions, and ancestral ecological wisdom of the Taribelang Bunda people. Meaningful connections to discovering sustainable ways of understanding and managing the environment, our guests immersed themselves in cultural knowledge and practices, that maintained a healthy ecosystem within Taribelang Bunda country. The guests were intrigued about our Milbi, the freshwater white-throated snapping turtle a totem to the Taribelang Bunda, which is critically endangered. We love meeting others who care for its survival.

Thank you also to Megan and the team at Monsoon Aquatics Coral Farm for inviting our cultural team join and learn about coral breeding and growing. We would love to connect more in the future learning more.

Thank you to everyone for sharing this special experience with us. Your enthusiasm and curiosity keep our ancestors' knowledge alive.

What a moment! Our Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tour guide couldn’t miss the chance to meet NRL legend Greg Inglis —and judging by his smile, he was just as happy about the surprise meeting! We hope to welcome Greg back to the region soon—maybe even joining us on tour next time!

As the owner of The Goanna Academy, this is the first time joining Brad (Freddy) Fittler on the HOGS National Tour, spreading positive impact through rugby league. While we were disappointed to miss meeting Freddy and other former NRL & WNRL stars this time, we’re looking forward to the next HOGS tour and seeing this powerful partnership in action again!It’s inspiring to witness the positive influence this initiative has on the mental and physical health of future generations. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

During the week, we proudly celebrated the official opening of Turtle Sands Nature Resort at Mon Repos, a place of deep cultural and environmental significance to the Taribelang Bunda families. The event began with a traditional Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country, honouring the sacred sites and history of the Traditional Custodians. The opening was officiated by The Honourable Andrew Powell MP, marking an important milestone in the recognition and appreciation of both cultural and environmental preservation.

Bundaberg local Sharene recently made a remarkable gesture, returning stone axe artifacts that had been collected from Barolin Rocks and Rubyana (in the mangroves) to the Traditional Owners of Taribelang Bunda Country.

These artefacts, deeply connected to the land and its rich cultural heritage, hold stories that span generations. By returning them, Sharene has honored the spirit of reconciliation and respect for Aboriginal culture.

Our Elders and Traditional Owners were deeply moved, cherishing the opportunity to once again connect with these tools. They shared stories of the area's significance and the traditional uses of these artefacts.

Returning artefacts like these helps preserve our shared heritage, allowing Traditional Owners to safeguard cultural knowledge for future generations. 🌱
