⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE ⚠️

Our drivers have recently reported a number of alarming incidents involving school students dashing out in front of buses to cross the road after disembarking.

This behaviour is highly dangerous as (a) students do not have an unobstructed view of oncoming traffic and (b) passing motorists do not have visibility of the students.

As per the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ Code of Conduct for School Students Travelling on Buses, disembarking students are expected to:

☑️Wait in a safe location until the bus has moved away before making a decision to cross the road.
☑️Cross the road safely
- Look to the right, left, and right again.
- Make sure the roadway is clear.
- Walk, don’t run.

To assist us in reinforcing the importance of safe bus travel, please relay to students in your care who catch a bus that they should never cross in front of or behind the bus; but rather wait until the bus goes before crossing the road.

⚠️ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ⚠️

Most local schools are serviced by multiple school bus routes 🚌

In the interest of student safety and reducing service disruptions, it is vital that students know the service/s that they need to catch and that they pay attention to the number of the service when boarding.

Services are identified by the number displayed in the front window (and sometimes side window) of the bus. Our helpful drivers can also confirm the route they are conducting.

Should a student realise that they have caught the wrong bus, they are to let the driver know immediately so that arrangements can be made to get them safely to their destination.

To assist this process, we strongly recommend that students know the following information:

☎️ Parent/caregiver name/s and contact number/s
🏠 Home address

📣 SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

For safety reasons, the 7046 PM school service route has been changed effective today.

The service has been rerouted once it leaves North Harbour to return along Buckley Road. The service will then continue to Cameron Road and run the current route anti-clockwise to service Burpengary East.

The change has been implemented to avoid students living on the eastern side of Buckley Road having to cross the road after disembarking.

Term 2 has begun, and school services are back up and running! A friendly reminder that all students catching school services are required to hold either a Translink go Card or valid Bus Travel Assistance Card.

Over the weekend, some of our Leadership Team attended the annual Queensland Bus Industry Council (QBIC) Conference at Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.

The theme, ‘Embracing Transformation - Navigating the Era of Change’, delivered very informative sessions providing our team with an insight into the challenges we face in the future as we transition to a Zero Emissions fleet.

A highlight of the conference was the annual Gala Dinner where KBL was acknowledged by our industry by being awarded Employer of the Year.

“We are very humbled to receive this award from our industry colleagues,” said KBL CEO Darren Webster. “We are extremely proud of our people, and this award is for all our people as they are the most important asset to KBL.”

The KBL team would also like to acknowledge and congratulate our fellow industry colleagues who also received industry awards.

Congratulations to Jason and Sarah from QBIC on a very successful conference.

Our restored 1979 Domino bodied Leyland Worldmaster was a popular attraction at the successful Show 'n Shine event held at Lake Resort recently.

"Your historic bus was a unique exhibit that was appreciated by many," says Beachmere Bay Social Commitee Secretary, Ann Richardson. "My personal thought was a reminder of the bus that I caught to go to school and then, as a teacher, accessed for school trips with my classes!"

KBL are proud to be one of the fifty exhibitors that attracted an estimated 350 guests to the event.

A large number of uncollected 2024 School Bus Passes are awaiting distribution at our Burpengary Head Office.

A friendly reminder that it is a condition of travel that students are in possession of a valid school bus pass. Please note that 2023 School Bus Passes expire on Thursday, 29 February 2024.

Our Head Office Reception located at 2 Motorway Drive, Burpengary is open 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday.
