Busselton, you did it! 🎉 We're thrilled to announce that Busselton has been named the winner of the 2024 7News Top Tourism Town Award!
The prestigious award celebrates towns and cities where the very best holiday memories are made. With the overwhelming support of everyone who jumped online to vote, it’s clear that Busselton holds a special place in the hearts of both visitors and locals. 💙
We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to Josh Whiteland, local Wadandi custodian and proud owner-operator of Koomal Dreaming, who received the award for Individual Excellence in Aboriginal Tourism.
Now, Busselton will proudly represent Western Australia on the national stage at Australia’s Top Tourism Town Awards in September.
What a nail-biter it will be! But for now, we’re off to celebrate with a stroll along the iconic Busselton Jetty. How about you? 😍

Fun for the whole family
An exciting interactive storytime trail has been unveiled in Geographe!
Twenty panels spanning 1.6km along the Geographe foreshore have been installed, creating an engaging storytime activity for small groups and families with young children.
Titled The Storytime Way, it features pages from children’s picture book Wombat Can’t Sing by WA author Katie Stewart.
Families start at panel one (located on the Geographe foreshore footpath just 400m from Busselton Primary School) and can walk or ride all the way to the last panel which finishes at Longlands Park in Geographe.

astonishing airbnb policy at its best.. 😤 😤 😡
apologies for the long post and dump down but anyone had this happen to them?? video taken just before Malaysian guests arrived is in link but airbnb weren’t interested in facts
——-i wish to make a formal complaint about airbnb process.
a airbnb ambassador jimboy b engaged with me very extensively and made a determination to remove a Malaysian guest review which was retaliatory after they were refused a refund because
- we have 10 beds and top bottom sheets are extra which was advised to them in writing two mins after they booked
- they ignored this message and multiple subsequent messages instead in one sentence responses asking for free linen for 8 beds
- i said no, that’s not our policy, offering them initially 2 beds free and then 10% discount and explaining it costs us an hour to do and that we do it this way as we can’t either afford to have linen on ten beds every stay for our prices or else if we added it by guest it’s not fair on affordability to families the amount of young children we have - our target market
- in last minute correspondence after more ghosting from the guest we offered them linen for 8 people and 8 towels for $60
- we got no response only a rejection of the request for $$
- by this stage it was 11am and the guests were arriving at two
- my property manager in the goodness of her heart fully made up the two queen beds and gave them complementary 6 towels
- my property manager then took a full house video to confirm this and sent it to me time stamped
- after leaving the guests asked for a refund and an airbnb ambassador contacted me asking if i could be conciliatory and offer them something
- i said no because 1. we have a house policy and 2. we already have them $90 of linen for free and 3. they were rude in correspondence and ghosted all form if communication prior to staying
- the airbnb ambassador completed their investigation and upheld our position and the guest did not receive a refund
- on acknowledgement of this the guest wrote this retaliatory review which contains complete falsehoods and is factually inaccurate
- an airbnb ambassador (the same one) then investigated and informed me in writing over the app that the review contravened their policies and it would be removed
- i replied thankyou and the case was closed
- the following day i contacted airbnb as the review had not been taken down and as the case was closed a new case was opened
- airbnb process then required a second ambassador to make their own determination which was done via desktop and more briefly. They advised without any of the information above in 30 mins that they were overturning the previous ambassadors decision and the review would stay up
- they stated no reason or basis of the decision and said airbnb is not interested in the facts of the case only that the review does not violate their policy (which is basically a discrimation / bullying policy)
so what that means is that a disgruntled guest can say completely false statements , which can be substantiated as false but airbnb is not interested in confirming this
neither do i have a basis as to why it is no longer viewed as retaliatory as the previous ambassador found - when it so clearly was

Lisa (a chartered accountant) and her husband David (an mechanical/fire engineer) now operate Busselton Family Holiday House after Lisa fell in the love with the area whilst training for an half ironman. She brought the house as ‘capital baggage’ into their budding relationship back ten years and which now married includes three young boys aged 6, 4 and 20mths;
David’s love for the area has also blossomed through his holiday home repairs and maintenance ability! but also a move to the South West by his sister Helen, a vet who founded and operates a Veterinary Hospital in the region Vasse Vets. www.vassevets.com.au
Busselton Family Holiday House is a relaxing holiday house sleeping 12 and allowing pets, which is close to the shores of Geographe Bay. 2 mins walk to shops (including IGA, bottle shop, pharmacy & take-aways) and 3 mins walk to sandy beach perfect for young children.
We are fully accredited with Busselton Shire including planning approvals for short term letting (for up to 12 guests, 5 cars parking), a bronze member of Tourism Western Australia and have recently obtained full WA Tourism accreditation, the first standalone house in the area to do so. We are professionally managed on the ground in Busselton by Amber and David at Holiday Homecare & Maintenance and use professional cleaners.
The configuration is: 5 queens/doubles and 2 singles plus travel cot and boori matilda bassinet. Ensuite Bed 1 shower room and family bathroom (with bath) plus outdoor hot & cold shower. Beds 1 & 2 are queen beds. Bed’s 3 & 4 have double and single bunks, and second lounge has new (June 2019) Queen sofa bed.
Local shops are 2 minutes walk away and have IGA (7 days 8-9pm), BWS liquor store, fish and ship shop, ATM, Thai takeaway, Pharmacy and Hairdressers, plus Gull petrol.
Beach is 3 minutes walk away and you can take on the trolley our kayaks and kids kayaks and paddle to the jetty if you wish! (at your own risk). Geographe Bay is north facing and so rarely gets surf - and is calm and shallow great for young kids! We also have ping pong and table football tables if that's your preference too!
Our rates range between $165 and $395 per night (minimum stays of between 2 and 7 nights apply) and each stay includes a ‘standard ‘clean of 3 hours. Our standard property bond is $300 per stay.
