G’day nature lovers!

Yesterday (12th September), I took some lovely guests from Germany on the Koala Tour, and though there was rain looming, we rolled the dice as it was their only chance to see wild koalas in Australia. We had to take shelter at one point, but it was worth it – we saw about 10 koalas in total! They got to witness these beautiful creatures in action, climbing, feeding, and even drinking rainwater off a tree trunk.

A little rain never stops a true wildlife adventure!

Yesterday (12th September), Tom took some lovely folks from the Netherlands and USA on our Platypus Walk. While they only spotted one platypus, it was foraging for quite a while, giving everyone a great view! And since they were with Tom, they also had some fantastic bird sightings, including a green catbird and a tawny frogmouth.

Cheers to a beautiful morning in the wild!

G'day nature lovers,

On Thursday, 5th September, I took some lovely folks from Melbourne on the Platypus Walk. It’s always a thrill when we spot these elusive creatures, but each encounter is unique. Sometimes they’re foraging, creating ripples and bubbles, making it easier for us to sit back and enjoy the show. Other times, like last Thursday, they’re on the move—gliding swiftly through the water, leaving their familiar V-shaped wake. It can be tricky trying to stay ahead of them, but we still managed a fantastic close look at one of these speedy little platypuses!

G’day nature lovers! 🌿

I had the pleasure of taking a wonderful group from France on the Wildlife Safari yesterday, 27th August. It's always heartening to see endangered animals with their young, but it's even more special when they're as cute as koalas! 🐨 We spotted heaps of kangaroos, wallabies, and flying foxes. We had to work a bit harder to find the elusive pademelon, but we got there in the end! 🦘

It was a fantastic day of wildlife spotting and connection with nature. Looking forward to the next adventure!

G'day nature lovers! 🌿

I had the pleasure of taking some nature lovers from Switzerland on a Night Vision Walk on Monday, 26th August. Usually, the red-legged pademelons keep to themselves, but when they're in mating mode, it's like being caught in a pademelon-nado! They were hopping and calling, interacting, and even giving each other special hugs. 💕 We also spotted a short-eared possum dropping by to see what all the fuss was about, along with several fuscipes and a tawny frogmouth on the way home. What a fantastic night it was, full of lively wildlife action! 🦘🌌

Can't wait for the next adventure!

Cheers,

G’day nature lovers,

I had the pleasure of taking a wonderful nature-loving family from Japan on our Wildlife Safari on Tuesday, 13 August. We skillfully dodged the rain all day, making the most of our time searching for Australia’s iconic animals in their natural habitats. The young ones were especially thrilled using the thermal devices to spot the elusive pademelon in the rainforest! We also enjoyed sightings of kangaroos, wallabies, flying foxes, and plenty of beautiful birds.

Another day well spent in nature! 🌿🦘

So sorry for the delay in getting the photos out. Tom's away at the moment, so I'm running all the tours on my own and I had to also managed to move the office to boot.

Congratulations to all the winners in the Destination North Coast Awards. A special big congratulations to our friends at Explore Byron Bay- well deserved, you guys are doing an amazing job.

We decided not to enter any awards this year after winning 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze last year. We thought we’d give others a chance 😂. Jokes aside, it takes a lot of time and effort to enter the awards, and we are concentrating on building our business this year. We will be back in the running next year.

Plenty of local businesses were winners at the North Coast Tourism Awards which celebrated the top tourism operators who gathered to celebrate their achievements and honour the industry's leading performers.

27/07/2024

G’day nature lovers,

I’ve just returned from a week off-grid camping, completely immersing myself in nature. My adventure began at Barrington Tops National Park, where I visited Aussie Ark. They’re doing incredible work conserving endangered species like Tasmanian Devils, Eastern Quolls, Rock Wallabies, Parma Wallabies, and Potaroos. They’ve fenced off a 400-hectare section of their property, removing all feral animals, allowing these endangered species to thrive without threats. Their breeding program is equally impressive.

We camped at the Gloucester Creek Campsite, where we had the whole place to ourselves most of the time, surrounded by amazing birdlife, including lyrebirds that we both saw and heard. We did several walks in Barrington Tops National Park, with the Antarctic Beech Forest Walk being the highlight – and we had it all to ourselves! And yes, it was cold, but we were prepared. Sadly, no snow, which would have been a nice touch.

Next, we headed to Myall Lakes National Park, camping between the beach and an amazing tea tree lake. Once again, we were visited by incredible wildlife at the campsite. We took it easy here, enjoying a beautiful walk through the littoral rainforest beside the tea tree lake.

On our way home, we dropped in to see Kerry and Peter from Treehouse Retreat at Diamond Waters, fellow Gold Award winners at last year’s NSW Tourism Awards. They hosted us for the night and treated us to some beautiful local seafood, a bit of nice wine, and great company.

Feeling rejuvenated and inspired!

Cheers
