We at G.O. were fortunate our home went relatively unscathed through the cyclones and rains/flood…
This was not the case for many in Cairns (Gimuy). So please spare a thought for those families who are doing it very hard this Xmas. FNQers are a tough lot, but even this will be testing their resilience.

Meet Errol, our elusive bush turkey and property resident. Today he came out to greet us. Not so shy today probably as its breeding and nesting season. He most likely has a nest nearby he’s protecting.

Fun facts
🌴 Nests are generally large mounds the male builds and can be as wide as 4metre and high as 1metre.
🌴 The chicks can fly as soon as they hatch, because they have to fend for themselves from birth.
🌴 They are a protected species.
🌴 They can live up to 25 years

This ‘turtley’ awesome shallow reef is one of the best places to swim with these majestic sea creatures.
