The Cairns Festival’s Diamond Jubilee Grand Parade will start at the corner of Spence Street and Fogarty on Saturday 27 August, commencing at 5.30pm.

Join Cairns cultural and community groups, schools, business operators, performers and more as they show off our region’s distinctive tropical lifestyle and character, celebrating our vibrant and creative city.

The Parade will traverse along the Esplanade moving northwards through the Cairns Esplanade Dining Precinct, up to Minnie Street, where it turns left and will finish on the corner of Lake Street.

Almost 7000 individual items weighing in at an impressive 2.6 tonne were removed from 11.3 kilometres of coastline in Airlie Beach, Innisfail, Boyne Island and Port Douglas during Clean Up Australia Day recently.
〰️
Top items collected included:
• 2505 hard plastic remnants
• 751 plastic lids and tops
• 316 soft plastic remnants
• 245 metres of recreational fishing line
〰️
ReefClean joined several community led events where marine debris was removed and the data collected and entered into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database. The information gathered plays an important role in assessing the overall health of the Great Barrier Reef.
