Ironman Cairns has taken out the top accolade in the 2022 Ironman Athlete Choice Awards – reclaiming the title of world’s best Ironman, which the event also achieved in 2018.

For the past 12 years, we have welcomed athletes from across the world to our stunning region to take part in the race in paradise.

Ironman Cairns is set in one of the most impressive destinations in the world, boasting a 3.8km swim in Palm Cove, a stunning 180km ride along the Captain Cook Highway where World Heritage rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef, and a 42.2km spectator lined run course in along the Cairns Esplanade.

The event also excelled in two other categories, with Ironman Cairns finishing third best for Overall Host City Experience and the Cairns Airport Ironman 70.3 Cairns voted as the third best Overall Bike Experience in the 2022 Ironman 70.3 Athlete Choice Awards.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday 18 June 2023 and will be live-streamed ironman.com/live
