Vale George.

A tourism industry pioneer who generously shared the stories of his many adventures with countless visitors to Green Island over the years. He will be remembered fondly by all of us, and we offer our deepest condolences to the Craig family. ❤️

George James Craig born in Peru on the 10th of July 1930 left us peacefully on the evening of the 17 Nov 24 with his daughter Fiona at his side.

He set off on the top of tide under a full moon for one last adventure, fitting for one that have lived such an extraordinary life.

We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Deservedly now resting peacefully

For nigh on 30 years, most of those as the Quicksilver Group's Environmental & Compliance guru, our Doug Baird has kept watch over the Great Barrier Reef as an unyielding champion of environmental management, innovative sustainability initiatives, and stewardship programs.

As he hangs up his snorkel and picks up the golf clubs, we want to take a minute to say an enormous THANK YOU to Dougie and congratulations on a fantastic career.

And though there are many GBR champions to step into your enormous shoes, we will miss you tremendously! Tìoraidh an-dràsta ❤️

Caring for the reefs we love! ❤️

From Moore Reef east of Cairns through to the Agincourt ribbon reefs north of Port Douglas, our marine biologists and divers have been busy diving into the GBRMPA’s Tourism Reef Protection Initiative.

Over the past 18 months, they’ve conducted over 450 site visits, 700 Eye on the Reef Surveys and taken over 13,000 photo point survey images, phew!
But wait, there’s more!
They’ve also removed over 70,000 coral eating drupella snails as well as tending to our coral nurture programs.

Thanks to these activities and being long term proactive reef stewards, we’re proud to be helping pave the way for a sustainable future alongside a thriving Great Barrier Reef.

The Tourism Reef Protection Initiative is funded by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority as part of the Australian Government’s Reef Protection package.

Mother Nature hit our brothers and sisters up the road pretty hard, but the community response has been amazing. On Tuesday we had the absolute pleasure of hosting the QBuild team, who were heading up to Port Douglas and Mossman with a lot of very needed supplies.

On the way back we also had the privildge of ferrying some VERY confused family pets on their first boat trip!

Huge thanks to our crew and operations teams for all the hard yards they've been putting in to make these things happen.
