Each November sees the annual coral spawning on the Great Barrier Reef. This is a great time to visit for snorkelling or diving.

There are several environmental factors that affect when coral are likely to spawn:

🪸The ocean temperatures must be 26 degrees or above for the month before for the eggs to mature enough.

🪸The coral will reproduce three to six nights after the full moon in November or December (in the northern Reef) when there’s less tidal movement.

🪸Spawning is also most likely to take place at least three hours after sunset when all plankton feeders are sleeping, giving eggs more time to settle into the safety of the Reef and ensure a higher chance of survival.

Insider Tip: Earl Hill Conservation Park

For the adventure seekers, Trinity Beach has some great walks that will really stretch the glutes and burn off those holidays carbs. 🥾 ⛰️

The Woodland walking track is a steep 1km walk to the summit of Earl Hill and provides stunning views of Buchan Point, Yarrabah Range and Double Island. 🏝️

You can also connect to a track on the southern end of Trinity Beach that takes you along the foreshore for approx. 1.5 hrs in total before that much needed cool drink or beach side breakfast. ☀️
