My Pathway

My Pathway A social and economic development organisation delivering services from the Top End to Tasmania Welcome to the official My Pathway Page. No personal attacks.

These rules aren’t meant to constrain or intrude on your personal opinions and thoughts. They’re just suggestions to help everyone enjoy, interact and express themselves on our page. We ask you all to consider these when you visit us. MY PATHWAY FACEBOOK HOUSE RULES

We respect everyone’s right to express their thoughts and opinions and encourage constructive dialogue among followers of this page

. However, if your contributions don’t comply with My Pathway Values (SARIS), Facebook’s Terms or our House Rules then they (and you) may be removed. Whilst we moderate this site we do hope to create a community with you that is built on respect, and over time develop a culture of self-moderation. So we’ve kept it to just five basic rules that we ask you to keep in mind:
1. Keep your posts nice and culturally appropriate. Don’t be obscene, offensive, defamatory, threatening, harassing, overtly sexual, political, discriminatory or hateful to another person or organisation - including the group, our clients, our fellow employees, stakeholders, competitors and other people or organisations.
2. Leave names out of your posts unless they are a compliment or a good news story.
3. Keep posts relevant to the current issues and threads. The past is the past.
4. This is a spam-free zone. No reposting of posts from other sites or ads.
5. You take responsibility for what you post (your actions) on any social media page or blog. We will remove inappropriate posts. We welcome your feedback, both positive and negative and will endeavour to respond to your comments through our standard communication and management process where we believe a reply is required/suitable. While we support lively, open discussion, we reserve the right to delete comments that don’t meet the house rules at our discretion. That’s enough of the serious stuff. Now let’s have some fun. Make a post, add a comment and get involved. We look forward to interacting with you and thanks for being part of our journey. PHOTOGRAPH USE

If you post a photo or video to any of our pages, My Pathway group assumes you have gained prior written permission from the people featured in the photograph as per our media policy. After more than a decade on the Board of Reconciliation Australia (RA), where he generously shared his unique perspectives from remote and regional Australia to progress the work of the national body, our Director, Kenny Bedford, has recently stepped down from his position there.

His final official roles as a Board Member were to take part in the closing panel of the National RAP conference in Brisbane in November and to address the VIP event as an Awards Judge at the Indigenous Governance Awards Gala Dinner.

He used these opportunities to share his gratitude for the experience, learnings and opportunities that have come with the role and acknowledged our support as his employer and as a RAP partner throughout his RA Board contribution.

"One of the biggest contributions My Pathway has made as a RAP partner has been the support to develop my leadership roles including my service on the Boards of RA and My Pathway, as well as my community advocacy and representative roles more widely. I am also grateful to My Pathway for their encouragement and support for me to complete my Masters in the true spirit of our organisational commitment to Developing, Connecting and Growing."

Kenny's retirement from the RA Board coincided with the successful completion his Masters of Indigenous Business Leadership at Monash University. He will officially be awarded his Masters at a graduation ceremony in 2025.

We respect, acknowledge and celebrate these achievements by our Director and wish Kenny a well-deserved break with his family over the Christmas holiday period.

Congratulations team!

The whole business has our 🤞🏼

🎉 We're finalists in the 2024 National Disability Awards! 🎖

Our team has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Rural and Remote Support award for the ways we approach opportunities, overcome obstacles and resolve problems to better support the goals of people with disability in regional or remote regions of Australia.

We are great at this because of you, the people who either make up our local teams, or who choose us to deliver your community-based disability supports.

So thankyou to everyone who works for or with us, and the communities alongside us. We will be eagerly awaiting the awards results when they are announced at the ceremony on the 9th of December in Adelaide. But, whatever the outcome then, we are all so proud of this recognition already received.

Our Disability Supports leaders travel throughout their regions to help our widespread teams stay connected and developing together.

This is especially important in the Torres Strait, where our NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme supports are spread across the different islands that make up this region.

Great see the pics and insights from Maletta's recent trip to Moa Island to visit the growing team and clients there.

Reflecting on NAIDOC week 2024.

Our people across our footprint got involved in local events to support their communities and celebrate the week.

We received some special pictures from two teams in the gulf region that need to be shared.

Steve and Narelle from our Mount Isa ParentsNext team attended the NAIDOC Week Community Playgroup in the Park and helped local children create a handprint poster to be gifted to the local community centre.

In Doomadgee, the Ngooderi team were involved in community activities all week, but the highlight was the Wednesday lunch held at their hub to recognise the achievements of their participants. With Black Star Radio joining in and Services Australia and the ILDU teams also taking part it made for a great event.

Take a look through these great pics of both events, and have think about how you can keep the fire burning throughout the year.

Not only super proud that our Disability Supports were invited into the Woorabinda community to create employment and support opportunities for the people there, but that the program has grown so quickly.

Its testament to our people. Firstly to the passionate people in the community who have leapt at the opportunity to work with us, and secondly to the experience and expertise of the My Pathway Disability Supports team and the strength of our community-based support model.

Every year, Australia celebrates National Reconciliation Week (NRW) from National Sorry Day on 26 May to Mabo Day on 3 June. The week is a time for all Australians to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

Please take a minute to watch this welcome message from Reconciliation Australia's Karen Mundine, and jump over to https://www.reconciliation.org.au/our-work/national-reconciliation-week/ to find out more about how you can get involved in your community during the week.

🔗There’s renewed energy for three of our parents in Burnie who have accessed our support services and partner network to co-design their unique development plan. Parents Tahana, Megan and Chanell have activated a tailored study group with our mentor, Robyn, meeting every Monday to reach their education goals.

The study group aims to foster an environment where members are dually supported to excel academically and address personal barriers to empower their success.

“I’m inspired by the drive and initiative of these parents to grow their confidence and skills in areas of interest that one day will help them into work,” expressed ParentsNext Program Manager Alaynah.

“All parents are welcome to attend and benefit from this supportive learning environment where the opportunity to discuss ideas, seek advice and make meaningful connections are encouraged and valued,” she added.

Access to even more support is now available too! In addition to the ParentsNext participation fund to acquire essential tools and equipment for study, such as laptops and prescription glasses, parents can tap into the new engagement support vouchers to assist them on their journey.
