Leaving Hobart by 8am we will visit the Historic Richmond Village and walk across the oldest bridge in Australia. The Richmond Bridge was built by convicts beginning in 1823. Making our way to the Tasman Peninsula to enjoy one of the most dramatic coastlines in Australia. Full of convict heritage, lovely foods, distilleries, sea life, lookouts and some areas that are not so well known - The Coal Mines "The Other Port Arthur". The Tasman Peninsula boasts Australia’s highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere made from Dolerite. Small
offshore islands of Granite, the Southern-most exposed granite in Australia
with Sandstone and Permian aged Mudstone coastlines boasting mesmerising sculptured
sea caves and pillars. There is simply nothing else like it in the world! Our guides will take you to the EDGE and you can gaze down into The Tasman’s Arch,
Devils Kitchen, Blowhole and look beyond to Cape Hauy, The
Candlestick and the Totem Pole. Drive through Doo Town and check out all the
interesting house names. The Coal Mines Historic Site was Tasmania’s
first operational mine, established as a much-needed local source of coal, but
also as a place of punishment for the ‘worst class’ of convicts from Port
Arthur. Meet the owners of Federation Chocolates and learn about where your chocolate comes from and taste some of their lovely products. Immerse yourself in one of nature’s finest fragrances and explore the scent, taste and diversity that lavender has to

Discover everything that makes Tasmania amazing with this sightseeing and food tour. You'll get to taste local fresh produce; everything from berries and oysters to cider, chocolate and artisan cheese. You'll also get to spot wildlife in their habitat and tour a lighthouse. Photo ops at every turn! Your day will start off leisurely, with a hotel pick up. You'll enjoy a scenic country and coastal drive to Kettering, here you will board the ferry and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you head towards Bruny Island. You'll begin the day on Bruny Island tasting local artisan cheese and picking berries at a farm - don't worry you get to eat them too! Then it's a scenic drive through rainforest and over Mount Mangana to Cape Bruny. You'll relax with a big lunch of local produce. Choose from an extensive menu of locally caught fish, local lamb, salmon, seafood chowder or the popular seafood platter for two. You'll have to leave room for the freshly shucked oysters up next though, farmed just a few hundred metres from where you sit. You'll visit South Bruny Island National Park where you'll be astounded by the spectacular and rugged coastal views, expanses of vegetation and the wildlife including whales, white wallabies, birds, echidnas and more that call this area their home. Go on a tour of the Bruny Island Lighthouse and learn about the history of this lovely building, taking in sea views from its balony. CAPE BRUNY LIGHTHOUSE TOURS
Cape Bruny Lighthouse is the only Southern Tasmanian lighthouse open for inspection... The historic 1836 lighthouse towers 114m over dramatic cliff tops and coves that form the rugged Tasmanian coastline of Cape Bruny. Climb the original wrought iron spiral staircase to the tower balcony and take in the sweeping southern views to the wild Tasman Sea, South East Cape, Whale Head and the small islands dotting the coastline... Experience the vastness and wonderful photo opportunities at every point of the compass - with albatross, gannets and many other pelagic seabirds gliding over the relentless ocean swells... observe migrating whales, short tailed shearwaters and wedge Tailed Eagles swooping close to the tower. The superbly engineered lighthouse prisms remain in working order and unique to see close up... learn about this early iconic navigational land mark, how it was built by convicts, and how life was for a lighthouse keeper in this far south corner of our world.
