There are a few things to consider if you have been offered sponsorship at work in Australia.

It's possible that not all employer-sponsored visas will lead to permanent residency. And there's a lot to keep in mind.

To get started, here are a few questions to ask yourself:
1. Does your employer meet the criteria to be a sponsor?
2. Are you an eligible candidate for the role you will perform?
3. Is your level of qualification enough for the occupation?
4. Do you see yourself working for that company for 2 - 4years?
5. Last but not least, does this visa provide a pathway to permanent residency?

In this category, 482 and 494 are the most common visas. The sub class 482 visa is accessible across Australia, and at the end of the visa you may or may not be able to apply for PR. You could be eligible if your occupation is on the medium- and long-term skills lists (MLTSOL) but if it is on the Short-Term List (STSOL) you might need to find another pathway.

Workers in rural and remote areas of the country can apply for 494 visas, which provide a road to Permanent Residency after three years of employment, regardless of occupation. In comparison to the 482, the available occupations for visa sponsorship are also more flexible.

VIC 190/491 Skilled visa FAQs

What is the ROI?

A Registration of Interest is not an application for Victorian visa nomination. Your Registration of Interest will not be refused, rather it will remain in our pool for selection. The Registration of Interest process is a way for eligible candidates to identify themselves for the Victorian Government to select them.

The 6-month bar on the application is only for Victorian visa nomination.

05/01/2021

Onshore applications for Northern Territory nomination under the General Skilled Migration program can now be lodged through the online application system. Offshore applications remain closed while the national border restrictions stay in place.

Applicants must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for nomination prior to applying. This criteria will be strictly applied.

There are still a number of applications that were lodged prior to program suspension that are awaiting assessment. In recognition of this, all applications will be assessed by date of submission, and those with imminent visa expiry dates will not be given priority processing.

Applicants should lodge their applications as soon as possible after meeting the eligibility criteria. Those who have visas expiring should seek professional advice on their visa options and ensure that they remain lawful during their stay in Australia.

◼️Pearson PTE has recently released a report that has reassessed the concordance between PTE English language scores and those of the IELTS scores.

PTE has adjusted some scores to better align with the IELTS standard scores.

These changes have been reported to the Government's of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, all of who accept PTE English language tests for migration purposes.

However, until a new legislative instrument is released changing the scores, the currently legislated scores will remain in force.
