A big end of year shout out to the good folk at for turning up every week to deliver groceries and fruit and vegetables for our food pantry clients.

Today was the final delivery for 2024 so our CEO Simon Bennett invited the crew into the office for a quick tour to see what happens on the inside.

Thanks again to OZ Harvest for your ongoing support in helping us provide supplies to those in the community who need it most.

Sometimes the best Santa visits are the ones that feature a significant buffer zone...

Being a Santa fan doesn't always mean you want to be close to your idol.

Santa took some time away from his busy schedule yesterday to make a brief appearance at Acacia Early Childhood Education and Care Centre and was greeted with a wide variety of reactions. But like the true professional he is, he never forced the issue and was happy to chat from afar or avoid eye contact if required.

Happy Christmas to all the children and families across all our Children's Services.

A huge shout out to our friends at Throsby School for gathering together these fabulous donations from their school community.

Your families have a reputation for being very generous and for that we’re most grateful! And we think that giving where you live is always a great idea!

Watson Early Childhood Education and Care Centre is at painting stage and is on target to open in March 2025. Yesterday our CEO Simon Bennett and Executive Director of Community Services Karen Pollard joined the Children's Services team for a site inspection.

It's easy to imagine children in these spaces - running, jumping, singing, painting, reading, drawing and more in a purpose-built centre filled with natural light and painted in a delightfully calming colour palette.

If you'd like to know more about Watson ECEC, please take a look at our website and if you'd like to enrol your child, please follow the prompts to leave your details.

It was a pleasure to welcome Tom Emerson MLA to CS #1 today. Tom chatted with our CEO Simon Bennett and heard about our end of year activities including the food hamper and gift appeal and then paid a special visit to our Social Groups Christmas party where he addressed the gathering.

Thanks again to Tom for taking the time to visit us and to hear how CS #1 is helping hundreds of families and individuals across Canberra this Christmas.

Last Thursday was a special day at CS #1 as we gathered to thank our long serving team members for their dedication and hard work over 10 or more years - and in Rosie's case an amazing 20 years!

These are the people who turn up week after week to care for and educate babies and young children, to provide support through the facilitation of social groups for clients and to run transport services to assist clients to get to important appointements, social groups, grocery shopping and more. The work they do is important and impactful.

They give more to the organisation than they probably know and are valued for much more than for just the years they've devoted to making our organisation thrive.

On behalf of the CS #1 Board, Executive and everyone at CS #1 a huge thank you for your unwavering service.

Today our ECEC and OSHC leadership team gathered for an end of year celebration lunch. It was a lovely opportunity to reflect on the year that was, to show gratitude to our amazing team of Educators, and to be able to spend time getting to know each other. (Secret Santa gift stealing was rife!)

Thank you again for your hard work and dedication across 2024 and for continuing to inspire and build your teams and to grow strong connections with families and across the wider community.

Today CS #1 recognises Human Rights Day - observed annually around the world on 10 December. It commemorates the anniversary of one of the world's most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, s*x, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

The Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 and sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.

Welcome to the CS #1 team Arun [left] and Kirti!

This week our two newest Educators took up Director roles at Marlee and Narrabundah Cottage Early Childhood Education and Care Centres.

Arun has worked in a number of leadership roles and says she's very much looking forward to meeting the children and families at Marlee. She believes that high level communication with families is essential in a child's education.

Kirti has been working in management roles in early education and care for 5 years and loves cooking, swimming, reading and chatting with children.

We're delighted you've both made the decision to join our growing team and look forward to introducing you to all our families.

What better way to celebrate Christmas with our clients, community, staff and board members than with a good old-fashioned Christmas party complete with Santa, sausage sizzle, huge raffle, children's soccer clinic, live music, face painting, nail painting and cupcake decorating organised by the Sugar Plum Fairies!

A special thank you to Rotary Club of Canberra Sundowners who donated supplies and ran the sausage sizzle. Your continued support is very much appreciated.

Another huge thanks to the local businesses who donated prizes for our huge raffle including:
