RUOK Day 2024
Whether it's in the workplace, the home, among friends and family, neighbours and beyond. Sometimes digging a little below the surface can be really impactful.
Take a moment to think about the people in your world - do you think any of them might need some extra help or support?
This RUOK day we're reminded of ALEC:
1. Ask RUOK?
2. Listen with and open mind
3. Encourage action
4. Check back in and follow up

Are Croatian people the happiest on earth? If the mood at yesterday's Croatian Social Group gathering was any indication then they must be up there!
They had an extra reason to smile of course - with a visit from Her Excellency - Ambassador Pavelich who was kind enough to talk personally to each and every member of the group.
There is currently room for extra members so if you know someone who might like to connect with other Croatian's in Canberra get them to call: 02 6126 4700.

Manasa visits Narrabundah Cottage
We were delighted when ex student Manasa Rounds approached our CEO Simon Bennett at a recent event to share a glowing report of his time spent at Narrabundah Cottage as a young child.
When we invited Manasa to come to The Cottage to meet some of the children and plant a tree, he didn't hesitate. His visit was a great success and he was kind enough to let us follow him around with a video camera.
As a bit of background - Manasa grew up and still lives in Narrabundah and went to Telopea High School and Narrabundah College. He is currently studying commerce at UC and works for the Department of Defence. He plays and follows basketball, swims and loves hanging with family and friends. For 8 years through school he worked at Deli Planet at the Fyshwick markets and also as a tradie doing concreting and landscaping jobs.
A huge thank you to Manasa for taking time off work to come and visit his old centre. Your generous words, warmth and kindness is admirable. We think the world will be just fine with young people like Manasa in it.

Everyone knows the best manicures are given by 3 & 4 year olds who also happen to make the most delicious playdough cupcakes. That was certainly the case at Marlee Early Childhood Education and Care Centre this morning when the children helped set up a special morning tea and offered Mother's Day manicures at the bespoke nail bar.
If you're celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday may it be filled with the cups of cold tea, burnt toast, sloppy kisses and warm hugs.
If you know someone who might be a little sad on Mother's Day, why not give them a call, a hug or a card.
It was another delightful morning at Narrabundah Cottage yesterday with a visit from our good friend and Indigenous Gardener - Adam Shipp.
Adam introduced the children to a range of indigenous plants which they loved and we then headed outside to do some planting in the Butterfly Garden.
Gardening is always a good idea and is infinitely more fun when children are involved.

The World Health Organisation Council on the Economics of Health for All has found that at least 140 countries recognize health as a human right in their constitution. Yet countries are not passing and putting into practice laws to ensure their populations are entitled to access health services. This underpins the fact that at least 4.5 billion people — more than half of the world’s population — were not fully covered by essential health services in 2021.
To address these types of challenges, the theme for World Health Day 2024 is 'My health, my right’.
This year’s theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination.
CS#1 supports World Health Day and works to help give vulnerable clients access to essential food items with the aim of improving nutrition and overall wellbeing.

Easter arrived early to CS#1 on Friday when the bunny paid a surprise visit to clients and their families enjoying an Easter party in our Wellbeing Hub Garden.
Our own chef (aka Pierre the maintenance guru) cooked up some fabulous pizzas in our pizza oven and families enjoyed some egg decorating activities.
Thanks to CARE and Vinnie’s for setting up their stands to provide information about energy saving plans.
And a special thanks to Easter Bunny for enduring the plastic suit (and jumping around in it) on a rather warm afternoon!
Happy Easter to all our clients and their families.
The Narrabundah Festival is on! Come down while the cakes are piled high and say hello!
