Why is messy play so much fun?

We know it's not always possible or practical to organise this kind of play for your child at home. That's why we try to give the children in our Early Childhood Education and Care Centres the opportunity to do so whenever we can.

And sometimes the best part for us is capturing their faces.

Thanks to Winnunga Nimmityjah CEO Julie Tongs and some of the crew for welcoming us today to chat and share stories and to discuss potential areas where we can work together to build our communities.

Understanding more about the lives and needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our community is something we can all benefit from. Thanks for taking the time to share with us today. It's great to sit around the table and chat and laugh with our next-door neighbours.

While most of Canberra took a break over Summer, the amazing women of the knitting group continued to churn out beanies for patients in the oncology ward at Canberra Hospital. Today they gathered a large bag of 50 which are now ready for delivery.

They never fail to impress and just quietly, we’re very proud of their continued efforts to brighten the lives of so many.

Community Services # 1 is thrilled to announce the expansion of our Early Childhood Education & Care service with the addition of 2 new Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) programs - Sts Peter & Paul Garran and Rosary in Watson.

Both the new programs are proudly delivered in partnership with Catholic Education, marking a significant milestone in our valued association. These new partnerships bring our number of OSHC programs to five, allowing us to provide highly engaging, quality support to many more children and families across Canberra.

We look forward to nurturing these partnerships and continuing to support children’s growth and development in safe and inclusive environments.

Sometimes the best Santa visits are the ones that feature a significant buffer zone...

Being a Santa fan doesn't always mean you want to be close to your idol.

Santa took some time away from his busy schedule yesterday to make a brief appearance at Acacia Early Childhood Education and Care Centre and was greeted with a wide variety of reactions. But like the true professional he is, he never forced the issue and was happy to chat from afar or avoid eye contact if required.

Happy Christmas to all the children and families across all our Children's Services.
