Starts at 10 am at Carss Cottage Museum (80 Carwar Ave) with a home cooked morning tea in the courtyard (weather permitting) and then we have an excellent speaker to talk about "Crimes and Misdemeanours in the St George area". You can book with Adele on 9529 6730 - leave a message if it is not answered. $5.00 entry, enjoy morning tea, speaker, beautiful view and friendly people and you can also have a look in the Museum afterwards.

The next general meeting of the Society is on Thursday 14 November starting at 2pm in the School of Arts, Kogarah. Our speaker will be Kez Hasanic, from the Australian National Maritime Museum and he will talk about "The Lusitania Disaster".
Kez is no stranger to the Society and is one of our most popular speakers. We try and arrange a topic relating to one of the great wars in November to mark Remembrance Day. The Lusitania was a commercial vessel but was sunk by a German torpedo in 1915. Come and hear the full story with the implications of that event.
Visitors and new members welcome. Entry is $5.00 which covers our home-cooked afternoon tea and a ticket for the lucky door prize.
We will also have another 'bring and buy' stall on the day - who knows, you may find a 'treasure'. Inquiries to Gill on 0439 667 843.
Photo is of Kez.

I think we all value our local libraries but do hope they will always focus on actual books that can be held and read. I hear too many stories of books being replaced by AI or other tech sections.

Let’s hope someone buys it who will maintain its heritage value
