Things I was told about India that I have not found true so far...may be different in other parts but my observations so far.
1. Women must not travel on their own.
I have felt very safe and everyone has been very respectful. Obviously you need to be careful but not felt my belongings or self at risk.
2. There will be beggars and hawkers everywhere..
We were asked by some children in the car by the airport for some food and two have approached us on the beach but that's it..the regular paper guy and people selling necklaces a couple of times..
3. Crazy drivers...

4. You will be taken advantage off financially..
Most believe in good and bad karma, twice I have been let know that we have given them too much money. EDIT...3 times!
Broke my glasses and sunglasses and needed new screws. They would not take any money from me to repair them.
5. Wear a wedding ring as you will be harassed if you are not with a husband.
Only has to say that once so far.

Went to buy an esim before I left but my 0hone was not compatible. Left it too late to get a Sim delivered. Got a tuktuk for 150 rupees one way to Chaudi. Sim cost 550 ($10) for 1.5 gb everyday for 30 days. Need your passport, visa and 2 passport photos. That's the same price my carer would change for one day.

Lovely swim in the very warm ocean followed by another beautiful sunset dinner.

Turning 55 in a couple of months has me reflecting on the fact that I have so many places I still want to see. If I do a big trip once a year for the next 20 years (thinking I will still be fit and able by then) that is only 20 countries. That is not a lot! My intention this year is to write a list of some of those places and get some booked in. Will be sharing these big and smaller trips here - plus some insights into places I have already visited.
Why a pilgrimage? Wiki says, "A pilgrimage is a journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about their self, others, nature, or a higher good through the experience. It can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns to their daily life.
Pilgrimages frequently involve a journey or search of moral or spiritual significance. Typically, it is a journey to a shrine or other location of importance to a person's beliefs and faith, although sometimes it can be a metaphorical journey into someone's own beliefs." Sounds good to me....let's go!.... Next trip is in 2 days to Goa, India
