A recent visitor ‘Hudson’ aged 6, enjoyed some of his school holiday time at Turning Tides.

On returning to school he painted his impression of Coochie.

Thanks Hudson for sharing your beautiful painting with us - we are glad you loved your adventures at Coochie & enjoyed exploring Morwong Beach, swimming with Mum, riding around the island, exploring for shells, crabs and eating pancakes ready for more activity!

Welcome to Winter - every season is great on Coochie!
Enjoy a warm early morning coffee by the beach as the sun rises. Then breakfast on the veranda when the sun drenches the front lawn for hours. A good dose of Vitamin D and Sea are included in your stay at Turning Tides.

Escape for a couple of days or more to recharge and chase away any seasonal moods!!

A glowing sunset over Moreton Bay off Morwong Beach this evening 👌

Venus was shining brightly in the clear sky as we remembered with love one of our beloved fur friends ‘Lucy’ who suddenly passed over the rainbow bridge yesterday 😥🌈🐕

Lucy and her family are very dear friends and she loved her times on Coochie - running around the island with her human Dad, walking with the family, standing on the paddle board, swimming with the family, playing fetch in the yard and loving being with everyone everywhere. Her boundless energy, constant smiling happy face and zest for life we all admired and loved about her.

Our condolences & love to all the Reynolds family 🙏💔

The soon to be winter sun beaming through the large gum tree into the front yar, drenching the veranda whilst the tide laps Morwong Beach.

Morning perfection - far away from the busyness of the routine life.

Where would you like to be waking up on a mild Autumn morning with your beloved fur family?

The bird life awakens as the sun rises and peaks to the east over North Stradbroke Island. The grass appears to have a sprinkle of glitter layered overnight by fairies as the sun dances across her.

The day beckons as the tide rises and calls for exploration through the wetlands and into the waters of Moreton Bay.

Coffee is brewing and a view to savour it from, where the soul is calmed and the mind can quieten.

When did you last treat yourself to an island getaway so close to home - we’d be surprised if you didn’t want to linger for longer once here!

Autumn is an awesome time to spend a few days or more at Turning Tides - the warm weather & water are perfect to enjoy the sun & bay, longer times to lay on the grass and rest and chat with friends and fur babies, a fire to sit around and catch up over a drink, dinner and toasted marshmallows.

We have limited time left when our rental will be closed to guests for a period of time from mid June.

Located a short barge ride from Victoria Point, you can reach our home within 2 hours door to door from the southern Gold Coast or Northern NSW.

We accommodate up to 8 people comfortably with an outdoor fire, BBQ, a walk across the road to Morwong Beach and fully enclosed fence for your fur babies and children.

Fishing …. One of the relaxing things to do whilst at Turning Tides.

There are many locations around the island to cast a line and enjoy the serenity of being present in nature. You might even catch your lunch or dinner or take home some fresh fish 🎣

There is a boat ramp where you can drop right into Moreton Bay and a small distance across to Peel Island or Stradbroke island and surrounds.

If you are not the fisher type then fishing for a great deal has never been better at our current lowest rates ever - message to enquire or check through our Air BnB site found in the bio information at the top of the page.

In case you missed our post we are offering to Family, Friends and Past Guests an extra special rate of $200 per night plus cleaning fee of $200 with a minimum stay of two nights.

It’s a beautiful time to be here as the seasons change. It’s warm to enjoy beautiful Morwong Beach out the front with swimming and fishing or relax with a book.

The lawn is freshly mowed, fired wood to get you started stacked and beds freshly made … we have pretty much all you could want for a weekend or longer stay including a Weber BBQ, outdoor fire place, covered veranda, games, Netflix, fridges, the kitchen sink (haha) and the best outlook on the island.

Moreton Bay surrounds Coochiemudlo Island - an area that all guests can enjoy when staying at our home.

If you have a boat, bring it with you and skip across to Peel Island or North Stradbroke. A bit of fishing on the way or drop the crab pots in to collect some local blue swimmers or mud crabs on the way home for dinner.

No boat - no worries!
Enjoy a swim, paddle or float out the front at Morwong Beach - the best beach on the island. Cast a line off the beach and use our cleaning and filleting area then BBQ - byo lines and bait 🎣

Or simply kick back on the veranda or lounge room and enjoy the uninterrupted water views.

Dates are open for booking now till the end of June. Two night minimum and three over the Easter long weekend.

Summer is here and we have added a few weeks availability in January 2023 to our Air BNB listing.

No matter the weather it’s always a great time at Coochie.

We have a wonderful covered veranda to shade you and your family from the sun & any rain. A large outdoor dining table and chairs is also featured in this area.

Many meals have been shared and enjoyed on this veranda with an uninterrupted view … the best on the island overlooking the changing tides of Morwong Beach👌

A new addition to the house was a gift commissioned from to the owner and a reminder to all who stay.

The design was inspired by both a love of travel and a song by singer & songwriter Passenger - “Life’s for the Living”.

We’ve been off exploring other AirBnB’s in the islands of Greece 💙🇬🇷

It’s great to be guests and be on the receiving end of the Airbnb experience, helping us to fine tune our delivery for guests.

In the interim we wish to thank our team of people who have supported our first 7 months and particularly whilst we have been overseas.

💙A big thank you to Glenn and Kim for their gardening and handy people services regularly maintaining our lawns, paths & gardens.

💙Thank you to Sharon for her meticulous cleaning and being available to support our guests during their stays. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, care and generosity.

💙Thank you to our beautiful neighbours Dot & Ash for always keeping an eye on things, helping us put beds together, coming to the rescue with washing and repairs and plant rejuvenating.

💙Thank you to Kyleen to taking over the management whilst Kate was away. Your expertise helped get us off the ground and has supported us ongoing in the wings … we are glad you and Steve love Coochie too 🥰

Recent guests enjoyed their weekend with a sunset picnic and champers on Morwong Beach … all just metres away from the front door.

This is a sure sign you have arrived in the right place ⚓️❤️🏝

From the moment you step or drive onto one of Amity Traders passenger ferries or vehicular barges from Victoria Point you feel the shift from the life you live pre Turning Tides stay!

There’s something about being on an island that feels so relaxing 😎 perhaps that disconnection from the mainland and knowing you can’t just duck to the shops or back home to pick up something you believe you need.

There is nothing to do and no place to go if you choose here … this morning multiple bird varieties are greeting the day and one another as the sun rises to the east. A Kookaburra flew in 2 metres from my feet whilst relaxing on the veranda to find some tasty morsel on the grass.

What will the day bring - a swim as the tide rises, some fishing, a walk or ride … definitely some good conversation with friends, a lowered heart rate & pace and thankfulness for another wonder-filled stay here 🙏😁

We have limited bookings now available for the coming months - the end of October and November will see our AirBnB reservations closed in the short term - if you are interested in a stay during this time please send us a message here or on Air BNB - we will advise any changes to availability to you as soon as we know!

It’s still a little chilli, weather wise … some extra warmth was added over winter with some additional soft furnishings from … the lush faux fur throws are the next best thing to hugging a lion & being in Africa 🦁😜❤️

Your next restorative getaway is only 10 minutes from the mainland, yet feels so much more … nestled on the north side of Coochiemudlo Island all you can see is North Stradbroke and Peel Islands.

A haven so close by ferry or vehicle barge from Victoria Point via Amity Trader company.

The weather is warming. and the days are getting longer … I know where I’d rather be 😉

What’s for lunch today?
En route to Turning Tides we highly recommend dropping into Oz Tropical Seafoods located in Victoria Point just before you arrive at the ferry & barge terminal.

Not only is their seafood very fresh but it’s also priced well.

Recently I picked up some beautiful fresh green prawns and created a Zucchini noodle prawn scampi for dinner (yes GF, DF !) and used the remaining prawns for a tasty lunch morsel the next day whilst savouring the best view on the island 😁

It can be so easy to miss some of the natural beauty of each day by being ‘busy’.

At the end of the day here Tides it’s rare that I’ll miss a sunset.

It calms the mind and stills the heart - if you will only make time to be there ☮️

Amongst some regular guests are numerous varieties of birds including these two loved-up Pink and Grey Galahs.

They seek shelter from the heat during the day in the front yard Poinciana tree watching us whilst we chat away on the veranda.

The male and females look alike with the exception of their eyes & that the male likes to strut when it’s mating time 🥰😜they are monogamous birds and these two were very affectionate with one another.

They live for approximately 25 years in the wild.

A stay on Coochie is a haven for bird lovers, also sighting many Kookaburras, Curlews, Rainbow Lorikeets, the Pied Oystercatcher, Brahminy Kites and Sea Eagles.
