How cool is this? Getting to visit the places you ski, now in "summer mode". Not for much longer though! The mountains have been getting their first snowfalls of the season and I'm looking forward to getting back out in the Main Range for some winter activities.

Sneaky mid week camp achieved between work days.. Fitting in a mini adventure during the week or leaving on a Friday afternoon can be the best thing! You wake up somewhere magical like the Diggings campsite, just a few kms up from Crackenback Resort. What a treat by the river there.

The best looking mountain in Kosciuszko National Park? The Sentinel is a beautiful thing with great views of the Western Faces. It's a big hike, around 20km return, but very rewarding.

Josh in Serious Adventurer Mode up above Blue Lake. Even with all this rain, the mountains are beautiful. In fact, guides like Josh seem to enjoy them even more in the rain! Fun fact: Josh almost exclusively wears shorts on his trips 😂

A big day of adventures deserves a good rest. Beautiful Crackenback resort is surrounded by mountains and has this gorgeous lake to walk around. It is such a peaceful place.. And has hot showers, soft beds and luxury facilities too. Restaurant, resort and spa? Yes please 🤩

Sunrise and summit! An early start is always worth it when you get to walk through the mountains as the sun is rising over the ridgelines and then be the first on Australia's highest peak. Beautiful sights and absolute legends for waking early and getting it done. Put this one on your bucket list 🪣💫

Into the mountains we go! Our first day of hitting the trails, hiking up to where the peaks touch the sky. Here we have time to admire the views, spot a few snow drifts and explore Seaman's Hut. Named after Laurie Seaman who died in a blizzard in these mountains, along with his friend Evan Hayes in 1928.

The journey begins. Our Kosciuszko Summit Tour starts with crossing the Snowy River before we travel up into the highest mountains to the river's headwaters. The Snowy is one of Australia's major rivers and is perfect for a chilly dip or a drink - as Josh shows us here!

Time to get to the mountains? The wild flowers are still out at the highest peaks of the Snowy Mountains. We love the fresh air, the gorgeous sunsets, the bright stars overhead with very little light pollution. Here are some alpine sunray flowers at the very top of Mt Kosciuszko 💛🧡❤️ see you there?

Time to get hiking! The wild flowers are out right now, the weather is clearing and school holidays are almost over. This is Nichols Gorge walking track, a 7km loop that starts down by the river, passes some brilliant caves and then finishes up on the grassy plains with flowers blooming all the way. An excellent side trip for when you're coming up to the mountains. Best to camp at Blue Waterholes or Magpie Flats for this one and bring your swimming costume 👙

Kosciuszko National Park has many hidden gems and much more than mountains to offer. On this trip we went to Blue Waterholes to explore the caves, rivers and waterfalls! The caves are cold, dark and beautiful. They can be explored at your own pace as much or as little as you like - just bring a head torch! Great trip and keen to head back soon 🦇

Seeing out 2021 with one of the coolest hikes in Kosciuszko National Park! The abandoned Thredbo to Charlotte Pass chairlift (yes you read that right). Built in 1964, it only ran for a year before high winds and the risk of exposure to guests forced its closure. The ruins of The Stillwell restaurant at the top are fun to explore.

The Sentinel. One of Australia's most dramatic day hikes! It's got it all - challenging terrain, great views and a few heart stopping moments. Definitely one of my favourites, tucked away in Kosciuszko National Park.

If you haven't been to Jindabyne in a while you might be surprised to see that things are a little DIFFERENT. Jindabyne lake is currently at 95% capacity and it's covering mountain bike tracks, parks, paths, even play equipment! The good news is that everything is looking super lush right now and it's a fun time to go paddle boarding 😉 This is Alex's favourite activity between guiding days!

Official summer hiking season has kicked off! Alex got out to the top of Mt Kosciuszko today and the snow is still thick up the top with lots of drizzle and cloud to boot. Guides don't mind wet weather though...in fact, we love it!

Snowvember! So exciting to see fresh snow falling today - and it's almost summer! Here are some photos from a walk today, through the Alpine Ash forest and along Thredbo river, with the native wild flowers covered in snow. Hiking in stormy weather can be such a treat.

Look at these beauties! Last week I headed out for a mountain walk and was excited to see the Alpine marsh-marigold blooming. It's the first of the wild flowers to open when the snow melts. Lower down in the valley we have mountain hovea, yellow bossiaea and mountain plum pine berries all starting to show their colours. This is just the beginning! Personally I'm most looking forward to the purple eyebrights up near Mt Kosciuszko and the neon pink alpine trigger plant that erupts along the Dead Horse Gap track.

This is Blue Lake, the deepest of the alpine lakes in Kosciuszko National Park. Many years ago it was a glacier and you can see remnants of glacial action in the amphitheatre of rock surrounding it. Blue Lake is a personal favourite of our guides - it absolutely sparkles when the sun is out!

Mt Kosciuszko is a whole different experience in winter. Here we're looking at the south end, with the peak of Kosciuszko disappearing into the clouds. Lake Cootapatamba lies frozen over. It's a stunning landscape - come join us some time.
