Itโ€™s amazing how we have treated such a beautiful part of the peninsula for the last 100 years ๐Ÿ˜ญ Surely south narrabeen deserves better than this and what has happened recently will have a long lasting effect on the beach ๐Ÿ– as these rocks will keep appearing ๐ŸฅœThe last photo is of a rock that I found in the water on the shoreline and luckily the excavator could pluck it out even though it just fitted in the bucket ๐Ÿชจ and there is a lot more out there ๐Ÿชจ Imagine what the surf zone will be like once the whole beach is completed ๐Ÿฅœ.

The official spokesperson for the Narrabeen-Collaroy Seawall Bob Orth you may have seen him on a lot of media coverage over the last couple of years and Bobโ€™s knowledge of this dynamic beach goes back as far as approximately 2012 when he decided to move in at the end of Stuart st on the beach. I have had a few conversations with bob but his knowledge is unbelievable he even knows more than the coastal engineers ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ but today Bob took on a new role acting as beach guardian or ranger and decided to tell me and to get off the beach and that We were on private property while standing at the waters edge in front of the wall. He informed that I was trespassing and that 8m from the wall seaward is private property.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ฏ Bob your knowledge is unbelievable because for 100 years my family has been trespassing and we are sorry ๐Ÿ˜ข but I have a couple of questions Bob?
Why didnโ€™t you come out and meet the neighbourโ€™s when weโ€™re all on the beach last Saturday? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Have you met the neighbours that live west of Pittwater rd that enjoy the beach? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Why didnโ€™t you listen to your partner/wife when she didnโ€™t want to live there ? So a word of warning to anyone wanting to use the beach between Stuart and Wetherill stโ€™s according to Bob itโ€™s a private beach 8m from the wall ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ you will be trespassing and we wouldnโ€™t want to upset the residents or sit on there beach,in saying that the residents I have known for over 20-30 years probably wonโ€™t mind if you use there beach but Bob is speaking for everyone as he knows best ๐Ÿ˜ณ

2m high tide and a 2ft wind swell from the S/E and between Stuart st and Wetherill st the beach was changing as I watched it.The beach was flattening out losing its ramp and the sand was liquified sinking to my knees like quick sand, towards flight deck the sand was normal hard packed, but as the tide topped out and started to retreat I watched as the beach started to drain and all these holes started to appear along areas of the wall ๐Ÿ˜ฎthat were not there as the tide came in,as I suggested yesterday the beach is holding water at high tide in front of the wall and some of the photos also show that. With the sand holding water and the flattening of the beach and a bit of swell from the N/E this liquid sand will move quick especially if we get a consistent run of swell as for a storm event thatโ€™s a whole different matter. I hope we donโ€™t end up with one giant hole along 300m of beach but I think itโ€™s heading that way . I so hope I am wrong ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ฉ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

A photo of the sea wall at the car park at collaroy beach that was constructed recently. This wall protects the heritage listed Arlington hall which recently turned 100 also the beach club, collaroy hotel, take away shop and the car park Also it protects critical infrastructure such as telecommunications, arterial road and most importantly a sewage pumping station(red circle)which services the approx 10,000 people that live in collaroy ๐Ÿ’ฉ ๐Ÿ’ฉ. The coastal management plan 2016 recommended that this type of wall should be rebuilt/replaced along the whole beach. If this type of wall is suitable to protect a sewage pumping station located right on the beach and other assets it should be suitable for the whole beach ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. The old rock wall built in 70/80โ€™s with old technology has held up well as it has not been maintained or upgraded with new technology (textile matting etc ) There were other options available to keep the health of this beach alive but we ended up with kerb and guttering WTF. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’”

South Narrabeen โ€”โ€”
So the black line represents the wall completed and the red line represents the proposed length ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ . This 20m high wall will run from Frazer st Collaroy(tank traps) all the way to the fire station north of Goodwin st ๐Ÿ˜” This wall is massive and will have long term effects on the beach and whatโ€™s left of its natural sand movement . The residents may have paid to protect Pittwater rd (as they have told me many times ) oh and there properties ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ but is that worth the long term damage to our local beach ? ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿฅœ.

Collaroy to Narrabeen beach is a very dynamic beach and itโ€™s only taken 100 years of development and stabilisation of the active wave zone and associated sand dune to destroy it ๐Ÿ˜”. The current wall as some may think is 7m tall it is actually around 20m in height due to the continuous concrete steel footing foundation that the visible 7m wall sits on ๐Ÿ˜ณ. This wall has a life expectancy of around 80 years according to information I found contained in the DA ๐Ÿ˜ฏ. Since the early 1960โ€™s the residents of this area have been against any development on this active wave zone even forming a action group mid 60โ€™s to try to stop the flight deck/shipmates construction but it went ahead with council approval ๐Ÿ’ฐ ๐Ÿค. With all the research that has been undertaken over the last 40 years on this beach in particular by Professor Andrew short and his team/students the current Northern beaches council have chosen to ignore this research and approve this copy/pasted n**i megastructure private DA . The old wall which was erected in the early 80โ€™s from car size boulders gave like a honey comb effect where the wave action would lose energy and not create a back wash it worked for 40 years but now we have a vertical >20m concrete wall that will amplify the wave energy creating a backwash which presents another whole set of problems for the beach and property ๐Ÿ˜ณ. This wall is actually inside the active wave zone which was identified in the 1980โ€™s Currently at the Stuart st end where the wall ends the risk to the houses(Stuart to Ramsay st)on a decent >3m swell from the north east has increased dramatically because the wall actually tapers slightly to the NE and with the north to south drag that southy gets it will run down this wall like a freight train and into this key hole .At the north end Clarke st the wall stops one property short of clarke st due to a dispute which opens a whole new set of problems for that street due to the corner return of the end of the wall which will cause backwash/erosion due to the removal of all the large rock, again another keyhole. With this 15m foundation laid Southy has changed forever ๐Ÿ˜”
