The Barramundi is arguably Australia's most famous fish and the Northern Territory equally arguably is the best place in Australia for someone to catch their first barra. Anyone who has ever watched and felt a silver slab of barra jump clear of the water with their lure hanging from it's mouth knows there is no fish like the barramundi. Fish of 20 pounds on the old scale are common and due to the

conservation and management of the Northern Territory fishery many trophy fish over 40 pounds are caught every year. Barra can be caught by trolling lures behind the boats (a proven big fish technique) or cast to in a huge variety of locations from tributaries that drain floodwaters from the wetlands to mangroves, rock bars or oyster encrusted headlands or reefs. Casting lures into snags and having it engulfed in an arm jarring strike followed by a cartwheeling Barra is one of fishings all time highs. We know the locations, when to fish them and the lures to use. Let our experienced team guide you to great fishing amongst spectacular scenery and wild life in the most productive river and estuarine systems available, like the waters of Kakadu, the Mary River, Shady Camp, Daly River and even into remote restricted access lands. Trips are available from 1 day to extended tours from 2 - 14 days. The specialised quality gear required for tropical sportsfishing is supplied which includes fishing tackle (on a replace if lost or damaged basis) accommodation, air conditioned vehicles and all meals supplied. Our boats are custom built for barra fishing, reliability, safety and angler comfort.

Fished the Kakadu Klash with Alex Julias from NAFA magazine and Warren DeWith from Katherine Rod and Rifle, didn’t quite get the results but a great 3 days on the South Alligator. Also getting fined a carton by my indoor cricket team for turning up on the news.

Wet season Update- After a good start with plenty of storm activity in November and early December we had a hot and horrible few weeks through mid December with a bit of relief arriving on Christmas day. But since New years the wet season seems to have gotten is act together. Darwin continues to miss out on the rain but the river catchments where it counts have been getting some good falls every night. Daly river is on the rise and after watching the radar like a hawk I can only assume the South and the Mary should be following suit. Fingers crossed it will keep happening and we get another proper run off and spawning season.
This is Last Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Yesterday

As it got hotter I snuck in a bit of a fish myself. I got a chance to fish some billabongs down near the Daly landing my first ever billabong metery on a home made unpainted Northern Native timber lure. Scored plenty of other good fish too. Always good to explore new country.

In town for the V8's and have a spare day? We are currently running daytrips to the billabongs on the Mary river and turning some good results. Its a great way to see some of the most breathtaking parts of the top end teaming with birdlife and crocodiles. Why not jump on board for a day and give it a crack.

Back in from our first remote camp trip of the year. Always good to get back to Endyalgout island away from the crowds and get lost in the maze of the Mini Mini. Big thanks to the guys, clients and staff for making it a great trip. Cant wait to get back up there in a couple of weeks.

Run off for 2017 all wrapped up. Good to see a proper wet season after a few dud years. Even better to see the swarms of baby Barra that have been spawned and have had a great start to life. Look forward to seeing them again in 2 or 3 years when they are 60cm or 70cm. Here's a few pics from my last couple of run off trips

The month of April has seen day trips fishing close to Darwin on the increase. To boot with this we have had good success on many of these outings, not always landing big Barra but landing good numbers.

Today's tour yielded another 9 nice Barra to 90cm, the boys took home a few feeds of fresh Barra and even experienced a double hook up on solid fish.

Here's a few pics from the past couple of weeks.

A bit more movement helped last week with the bigger fish getting more active. The highlight for me was Ian landing his first ever meter Barra after 21 years of trying. All the fish we found were heavy set and obviously doing well off the clouds of bait this big wet has produced - Congrats again Ballie

After waking up to another morning of monsoonal drenching we headed out for one of our seasons first run off charters.
With Reggie from Mount Gambier and Matt from Sydney the rain wasn't going to hold them back, we finished off the day having landed 8 Barra with the best going 97cm and missing several other chances.

09/02/2017

With rain still falling up north leading to a great run off, isn't it time to secure your seat onboard one of our customized Barra trips.

Email, phone of FB message now for details on availability and prices for this up coming run off.
