OUR PRODUCTS

Our small family business offers a different and unique sunset or daytime experience by using sailing catamarans that reduce our carbon footprint under sail as well as providing a great platform for wildlife viewing. We undertake a completely different harbour journey to other operators so every cruise provides a different harbor and wildlife experience. Our cruises are up market having smaller numbers, being very personal and relaxing where clients can freely chat to the skipper and crew or enjoy our interpretive material about Darwin’s history, ecology and environment. Our vessels provide plenty of shade, cushioned comfortable seating, or a completely relaxing experience on the trampoline. Sailing allows us to always be on the lookout for a variety of harbour wild life including the rare snub fin dolphin, bottle-nose dolphins and sea birds. Be a part of looking and identifying wildlife for our harbor wildlife-recording project. We leave Cullen Bay Marina for the harbor to sail past Mandorah to visit a mangrove estuary, Woods Inlet, within the harbor crocodile management zone to check out one of the harbour croc traps. Relax with a glass of red or white wine or a mid strength beer or a cool drink, while enjoying an anti Pasto platter. On our return to the harbour clients will have a relaxing sail while dinner is prepared for dinner clients and everyone gets ready to witness the magical Darwin sunset (every month we also have a magnificent moonrise from the other side of the Harbour). On our return to Cullen Bay clients will be able to view the city lights and our crew can point out interesting planets and constellations visible in the night sky. Our cruises are an unique Darwin Harbour sailing and wildlife experience and our products are eco certified with Ecotourism Australia. MENU

These Tiwi artefacts were drawn in 1818 by 21yo JS Roe, master’s mate on HMS Mermaid. He was the 1st Surveyor General of WA & prominent in the creation of ethnographic collections. “Basket of St. Asaph’s Bay; for water. Provisions etc, obtained from the natives. Supposed to be made of the sheaths of the foliage or large squamae embracing the stems of the Pandanus or Screw Pine.. a Seaforthia Elegans a sp. of Palm.” It is actually Carpentaria acuminata (aka Darwin Palm).

Roe is silent on the object elsewhere described as a shield – Tiwi are not big on shields & this has a frame with mesh lining perhaps the bed of threads suggests it is woven or incomplete. The arch of the ribs suggests a concave shape like a lid or cloche for an infant and a fibrous handle. It would make a better cherubim pot than a shield & would’ve been categorised appropriately as a ‘Curiosity’.
