Regional Victoria is now in lockdown, and that means sadly we need to close our operations for now.

Skiing, Snowboarding and Tobogganing on Cobungra Platter has been ceased until further notice.

The DP to Hotham bus service will complete all services today to allow people to return to their place of residence, from tomorrow this service will be via private transfer only. Details of this are at our website.

We are feeling for all of Victoria and interstate in lockdown right now. Stay safe and we hope to see you again soon.

We’re settling in to the new normal as Dinner Plain reopens to visitors once more. With restrictions easing from today, we’ve welcomed everyone back, but there are new conditions in place that we all need to be mindful of.

COVID TEST REQUIREMENTS | All people entering Dinner Plain are now required to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result, taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. This applies to people aged 12 and above, and at entry points in both directions.

EXEMPTIONS | There are exemptions in place for staff, permanent and seasonal residents, plus students who regularly attend our schools. If you think this applies to your situation, you can find more detail at www.alpineshire.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19

TESTING | With over 1m natural snow base (and more on the way), we’re sure you want to visit our village as soon as possible. To make sure you can do so, and keep our alpine community safe, book a COVID-19 test at an available testing site at coronavirus.vic.gov.au/where-get-tested-covid-19

OPERATIONS | We’re back running daily tobogganing on both Cobungra Platter and Peashooter Slopes with skiing and snowboarding scheduled to run from Saturday. All of this is snow and weather dependent.

Things take a few more steps now but these steps are important to keep our snowy village safe from COVID-19 and open for us all to enjoy. We’ll see you soon.

With the Premier's announcement this evening, we will be pausing all operations of our tobogganing, skiing and snowboarding activities at Cobungra Platter until further notice.

The Dinner Plain to Mt Hotham shuttle service will be discontinued until further notice as well.

If you have purchased a Dinner Plain lift pass or lesson for the coming days, Mount Hotham Ski Company will contact you direct to arrange for refund or credit.

Please be respectful of the restrictions in place from 11:59 tonight and do not attempt to travel to Dinner Plain unless you have a legitimate purpose under the permissible reasons to leave home.

With snowfall on the way there will no doubt be disappointment in being unable to visit us. We understand this but ask that you please respect the restrictions in place and the urgent need to protect our communities from further spread of the outbreak. The snow will fall and we will be here to welcome you back as soon as restrictions ease.

For full details of the restrictions in place from tonight please refer to the Premier's statement below.

Welcome back Melbourne, we've missed you!

There is a bit to process with the new restrictions - If you plan to visit Dinner Plain only you don't need a COVID test but if you're planning to share your time between us and our Alpine Resort friends, it becomes a bit more complicated.

To make things easier to understand, when you visit Dinner Plain you will see this poster explaining how the new restrictions affect your stay. Please remember the restrictions are new for everyone (including our businesses and staff) and we're all working hard to make sure your time is safe and enjoyable.

See you soon.

COVID CHECK REQUIREMENTS - ALPINE RESORTS | Restrictions will ease for Metropolitan Melbourne from 11.59 tonight (Thursday, 17 June).

Melbourne residents will once again be able to travel to regional Victoria. We’re looking forward to welcoming back Melbourne visitors, however there are new requirements around COVID-19 testing for Melbourne residents travelling to Alpine resorts.

Melbournians are required to get a COVID test within 72 hours of departing for an Alpine resort, and must be able to show evidence of a negative test result upon arrival. Children under 12 years are not included.

This requirement does not apply to visitors to Dinner Plain.

Melbourne residents intending to travel into the Mount Hotham resort from Dinner Plain, will be required to show proof of a negative COVID test.

Falls Creek and Mouth Hotham resort boards will establish manned road blocks at the approach to the resorts to ensure compliance from tomorrow (Friday, 18 June).

For our communities, this means traffic delays at peak times in certain locations, and slower access to the resorts.

We appreciate your patience as we all navigate these requirements and the implications for communities and visitors.

VMS boards will be in place at a number of locations throughout the Alpine Shire and on approach to the resorts.

> Mount Hotham - Checkpoints will be established on the Great Alpine Road on the outskirts of Harrietville and on the Great Alpine Road at Mother Johnson’s picnic area.

> Falls Creek - Checkpoints will be established on the outskirts of Mount Beauty on the Bogong High Plains Road.

Staff will be checking each Metropolitan Melbourne visitor aged twelve years and over for proof of a negative test result before entry to the Alpine region. This requirement applies to day visitors as well as those staying at Falls Creek or Mount Hotham resort.
