🌈 Colours of Edenhope – The Story Behind the Yarn Bombing 🧶

When the idea of yarn bombing the bridge first came up, it started as a joke. But with an abundance of yarn and a vision to brighten Edenhope, it quickly became a reality! 💡✨

Every colour tells a story:

🎽 Footy club colours – Celebrating our local teams and the spirit of community.
🌅 Sunset & sunrise – The breathtaking skies that start and end our days.
💙 Lake & sky – The ever-changing blues of Lake Wallace and the vast sky above.
⛈ Stormy skies – Dark and moody, a reminder of nature’s power.
🖤❤️💛 Traditional landowners – Honouring the rich culture and history of our First Nations people.
💜 Purple – The first colour crocheted, simply because there was so much of it!
🌈 Rainbows – A nod to the magical double rainbows that grace our skies.
🌏 Earth – The shifting tones of our land throughout the seasons.
🌳 Pastures & trees – Lush greens that define our landscape.
💛💚 Aussie & Canola – The golden fields that surround us.
🦜 Birds – 12 local bird species are hidden within the patterns—can you spot them all?

🌿 The upright posts represent our majestic trees, while the “hats” on top are inspired by wattle, flowering gums, and foliage.

This massive project (using 96km of yarn—enough to reach Horsham! 😲) wouldn’t have been possible without an amazing secret team who worked tirelessly to bring it to life. 💪💖

Enjoy a day of family fun and entertainment at Henley on Lake Wallace in Edenhope this Saturday. The event features a street procession starting at 2pm, plus competitions, live music and a fireworks display over the lake.

Great news

There were tears of joy today as descendants of Maria Langley finally uncovered the location of her and her infant daughter's unmarked grave at the Edenhope Cemetery.
Andrew Frost from SEE Geophysics used a ground-penetrating scanner to survey the historic cemetery, uncovering the existence of over 20 potential unmarked grave sites. Among them was a box-sized area within the old driveway, now to-be-confirmed as Maria Langley's resting place.
This discovery brings closure to a mystery that has spanned more than a century for the Langley family and their descendants.

Have a look at this gorgeous nativity scene created by the Edenhope Filipino Catholic Community as part of their tradition. 🌟

🌹 **Red flowers** symbolise **love**
🌿 **Green petals** represent **peace**
💛 **Yellow accents** signify **prosperity**
✨ Fairy lights remind us of **Jesus, the Light of the World**

In the Phillipines, Jesus is welcomed at midnight Mass, followed by a family gathering for a midnight snack and the opening of presents.

Meet the Manager!

I’m Nikiesha and I am excited to be working with West Wimmera Shire Council to bring you a safe and fun pool for your favourite summer memories! You will probably also see my husband (Tim) up at the pool doing a lot of the behind the scenes work and sometimes a kid or 3 tagging along.

I come from a swim teaching background, this year being lucky enough to be awarded the Victorian Swim Teacher of the Year and was a finalist in the National Swim Teacher of the Year category for Australian Swim Schools Association as well as a finalist in the Babies and Toddlers Swim Teacher of the year category for SWIM Australia- thanks to Prouse Swim School. Last season I managed the Goroke Swimming Centre and will continue to manage Goroke alongside Edenhope. I love water and want everyone to love it too!

I know I have big shoes to fill stepping into this role after Matt and Nikki Hollis who have set such a high standard. I wish them all the best as they look forward to the next chapter in their lives, and thank them for all of their help! They’ve saved the pool, getting it looking nice and clean after a bit of a turbulent start to the swimming season.

I understand the community is wondering when we will open, and I promise to keep you updated as soon as I have the information.
I greatly appreciate your understanding as we try to get up and running as quickly as possible.
