The Edithburgh Tidal Pool is a unique and historic seawater swimming pool located in Edithburgh on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula. The tidal pool offers a safe and scenic spot for swimming, snorkelling, and relaxing.

Constructed in the early 1900s, the pool was originally built to provide a safe swimming area separate from the busy port waters of the Edithburgh jetty. Initially, there were separate pools for men and women due to the social norms of the time. Today, only the former men’s pool remains, and it’s open to everyone .

🏊 Facilities & Features
• Natural Tidal Refill: The pool is naturally replenished with seawater at each high tide, ensuring fresh and clean water for swimmers.
• Amenities: Visitors can enjoy facilities such as BBQ areas, picnic spots, and public toilets, making it ideal for family outings .
• Artistic Touch: A beautiful mural depicting marine and bird life, painted by local artist Darryl Lewis, adorns the pool area, adding to its charm .

The pool’s proximity to the Edithburgh jetty, renowned for its vibrant marine biodiversity, makes it a popular spot for snorkelling and diving. Marine enthusiasts can observe creatures like big-bellied seahorses, Port Jackson sharks, leafy sea dragons, and various colourful corals and fish .

• Distance from Adelaide: Approximately 2.5 hours’ drive, depending on stops and traffic.
• Accessibility: The pool is easily accessible and welcomes visitors of all ages.

⭐ Visitor Tips
• Additional Activities: While in Edithburgh, consider exploring the local jetty, beaches, and nearby attractions like the Troubridge Island Conservation Park.
• Safety: Always supervise children while swimming and be mindful of tidal changes.

For more information or to plan your visit, you can check out the official Edithburgh website or the Yorke Peninsula tourism page.

Went out fishing today at Edithburgh, when we went out it was crystal clear and calm, about an hour in we could see this fog moving in and it was quite thick and eery, then passed with in an hour or so, then we could see the tops of the Wind turbines with a distinct line of the fog over the sea, I’ve never seen this before and was rather spectacular.
What we noticed and some mates in another boat around 400 metres apart was that we were catching fish prior to the fog coming in but as soon as the fog come in they immediately went off the bite .
So just thought I would share this for something different as Mother Nature is always a remarkable thing 👌👌😂

Hi Guys and girls don’t forget to book yourselves in to the units for the winter whiting run

(Transcript from the SA fishing report)
King George Whiting have fished well at Wool Bay, Port Victoria and Edithburgh. Boaties fishing the inshore grounds with fresh baits have returned the best catches. Those anglers trying the new Vexed Micro Meats have reported some larger, more aggressive whiting along with flathead as bycatch.

So book a unit and give it a bash what are you waiting for 🤔😂😂🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🍷🍷

$550,000 for Edithburgh jetty improvements
Council will receive about $550,000 to install a new staircase with platforms for divers and snorkelers to improve access and visitor experience at the Edithburgh jetty.
Council was successful in applying to the Australian Government’s Growing Regions Program which provides funding to local government entities and incorporated not-for-profit organisations for capital works projects that deliver community and economic infrastructure projects.
