Here’s the footage of the big girl we got on the way home to Exmouth. It took us just over an hour on 80lb stand up to get her boat side and released. Ive slapped together some of the best bits of the fight.
Hats off to deckie and angler. Greg’s first time hanging onto a fish and it was a donkey 🫏😂
And Jimmy for being a weapon and getting it done on 80lb standup.

Gamex 2022 done dusted. The weather was kind but the fish weren’t. Fishing was pretty tough for all 48 boats in the tournament. Possibly due to low pressure from a nearby cyclone shutting the fish down. We had some good days and some quiet days but still managed to find a few fish. After being on top all tournament, we just missed out on champion boat 7m and under heavy tackle tag and release billfish. Dropped 3 fish on the second last day which saw us knocked back and claiming third place in the end.
On a higher note, we took out champion junior angler tag and release billfish for the second year in a row. Making Holly our junior angler champion, the one to beat! Not only did she take out these consecutive wins she also came runner up champion angler overall, missing out on the title due to the fish’s favouritism to our heavy tackle short riggers, and not the 24kg long riggers, which would have added a different line class and more points to her overall score.
